Sales Director - Japan

We are looking for an outstanding Sales Director to join our team in Tokyo. We’re looking for someone with an established record of sales leadership and revenue generation who has a deep interest and passion for online media and innovation. We want someone who loves our product and knows how to sell creative solutions for clients and partners.  Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music.

What you’ll do

  • Define the national sales growth strategy and drive execution

  • Implement sales and marketing programs based on local market dynamics and broad business knowledge to maximize growth

  • Drive partnership performance, engage with key partners on a senior level, and deliver world class customer service

  • Develop best practices and demonstrate cost efficiencies.

  • Support global revenue organization and local Managing Director in execution of Regional Strategy & Targets

  • Support Sales Managers and Sales Support in delivering both individual goals & targets

  • Manage team meetings & 1-2-1 cadence across team.

  • Hire and manage the sales and support staff, provide mentoring on sales process

  • Present at industry events and forums

  • Manage sales forecasts, set budgets and goals for the sales team

  • Meet and exceed advertising revenue goals

  • Maintain high levels of communication and transparency with management, cross-functional teams, and business partners

  • Foster & cultivate a fun team spirit & energy that breeds & harvests ongoing success

  • Work from our office in Tokyo

Who you are

  • You have 10+ years of experience in the ad sales/media industry

  • You have 2+ years team management with successful management skills

  • You are a strong leader who flourishes with mentoring, developing and nurturing talented sales professionals

  • You are highly motivated and entrepreneurial

  • You are energetic and willing to thrive in a start-up atmosphere and has the ability to be flexible as we expand the business

  • You have strong relationships across media agencies, larger Japanese Holding companies, brands and preferably experience at a publisher

  • You have great problem solving and negotiating skills

  • You think strategically and can act quickly on your feet

  • You have an understanding and expertise in Japanese Radio, Video & Digital Media environments

  • You are experienced in building and delivering on strategic partnerships with high value agencies and clients

  • You are fluent in written and oral English
