Import

By combining your own music library with Spotify, you’ll have one amazing music player at your disposal.

Your computer’s Music and iTunes folders will be imported to Spotify automatically.

You can manually set the locations that you want to scan for music:
  • Just go to your ‘Preferences‘ in the main Spotify-menu.
  • Scroll down to ‘Local Files‘.
  • Select the box of the music you want to import.

Remove imported files

If you’d like to remove any of your local music files from Spotify, it’s this easy: Right-click the files you want to remove, or click the ‘delete’ button on your keyboard.

    To manually remove local files:
  • Just go to your Preferences in the main Spotify-menu.
  • Scroll down to Local Files.
  • Uncheck the box of the music you want to remove.

If you’d like to import them again, just drag and drop them into Spotify, or go back to your Preferences and check/uncheck the source.

Supported file formats

The following files formats are supported by Spotify:
mp3, mp4, m4a and m4r.

m4p files are supported, but are usually protected by iTunes. Spotify can’t play them, but will try to match them to a corresponding Spotify track for you. FLAC and other lossless file types are not supported. These won’t be imported.
