We wanted to let everyone know about this neat Spotify Chrome extension that allows users to search and find music in Spotify directly from their browser.
Use your mouse to highlight the text with the name of an artist or group in your current web page. Click on the extension’s icon to listen to their music on Spotify.
A fun way to quickly start up music you’re reading about while surfing the web.
You must log in to comment
That is very neat. Only option I'd like added is for it to automatically load Spotify and start playing rather than having to click on the Play button on the web-page that opens.
I'm in the process of writing a open source alternative client for Spotify. Read more here http://bit.ly/9wYVqw
Music from Earth, the Voyager Golden Record on Spotify: http://www.spotifyclassical.com/2010/08/music-on-voyager-golden-record.html
Please release such an extension for Firefox, if possible of course =)
For Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10206/
yeah cool. now what about adding one of the most useful things for a music player : an equalizer ? don't be fooled, i like all those novelties but i miss an eq from the very start and seeing all those things made around the main app make me wonder if it'll come anyday soon -or never- so i'm a bit disappointed.
this is genius, i love every single one of you :D
No work on my jop pc
awesome ta
This extension can also be used to search spotify: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/gipnlpdeieaidmmeaichnddnmjmcakoe
I only use Firefox so please get something like this for Firefox too.
Hello
Hello Spotify-staff... http://open.spotify.com/album/5vmV7wHSfgUYkxfzeJ8mVq it seems like track 4 and 5 have switched? At least is it very wrong for me... Just wanted to notify you on this matter. Regards Kapsyl
when is the equalizer coming on spotify???
Wow! Thanks alot. Good you did it for Chrome. :-)
I have also made an extension: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/fmhaaldakgddmknagfjphlliganfopii Linkify - Fast info about spotify links :)
In the selection search extension for Chrome, how do you add Spotify search? What is the text?Because Spotify is not a search engine.
I think the extention is pretty poor... It's not that hard to ctrl+c...ctrl + v. But with a spotify remote that includes the songname and forward, pause buttons etc. would be awsome!
The good thing about this is that the results list shows the original release date of the track, which is frustratingly absent from main Spotify application track listings. Can anyone find a way to tell Spotify to show the original release date against their track listings? This ought to be a sortable field
Please please please make a Chrome App for Chrome OS Chromebooks. Either a Chrome extension or a web-based version that works on all or most browsers. Chromebooks and other netbooks are the wave of the future and Chromebooks are cloud-computing only -- no downloads, no installs... Google Music Beta works over the cloud, but only with our own music. Pandora does it, but only with random tracks. There's no reason Spotify can't make a working web app, even with limited features would be appreciated. Search and play would really be all that was needed. So what if we can't play our own music on the go! We can always find it and play it from Spotify!
A web app will never happen. By design, Spotify only works on apps written for specific platforms. If they made a web app, everyone on any platform would be able to access Spotify and play music, which would kill their premium service. So the chances of ever playing Spotify music on a Chromebook is nil.
I'd have thought a Spotify app for chrome os on a chromebook would not be a problem to create. Like all other platforms the user would have to log in using their username and password. If the user couldn't supply this information then they wouldn't be able to proceed any further. Chromebook apps such as Springpad already work successfully in this manner i.e. if you don't have an account then Springpad will not let you in.
