A few days back we submitted an update of our iPhone app to the App Store for approval. The update will improve the general stability of the app, as well as add a few small improvements such as pausing music when you pull out your head phones. We’re also adding the capability for more efficient streaming over low bandwidth to help out those of you on slower connections. It will likely take a few weeks for the update to appear but we wanted to let everyone know that it’s on the way.

What's the status on a Windows Mobile version? Is it in the pipeline, or will you not release it?
I have a suggestion. Adding a radio function too the app, would be a nice way to discover music. And also creation of playlist on the app too.
Good stuff. I'd also like to request a feature to see an artist's most popular tracks (with an option to sync to playlist without adding automatically). Would make my week :-)

Great guys! I would love to see a 'sync' button in the future. I hate that the app tries to sync every time I start it. Whenever I'm on a slow 3G connection this takes forever.
will you try the compatibility with apple headphones? I mean: when I'm using Spotify I clic the pause button on Apple headphones and it starts iPod :(

I'm just waiting for the minute Apple finally let you go Background App... Current wish-list (though not the right place... probably...): 1) Background App ability (/shakey fist @Apple) 2) Access to Ipod controls (maybe settings - replace Ipod switch) 3) Track suggestions from info page (on Now Playing) It's a small but powerful list... and something that would make this incredible rather than great. I never had an iTunes library, so this is all i use... i'd like to be able to swap the iPod straight out for this as it would be much more beneficial. I'm sure otheres would agree :D Great job though folks, i'm a massive fan

great work guys. What I do think would be a great feature would being able to search within your cached playlists. With the ability to cache 3333 tracks it would be handy to be able search by artist etc.. within these. Can't believe people are requesting the ability to add a playlist when it's already able to do that. Can't people learn how to use the app before criticising it. With regards to running in the background, I jailbroke mine purely for this reason and it's awesome, also added music controls from cydia and I can now use the headphone controls (not sure if apple will allow spotify to add this).

Here's my list of requests for a future update: • better scrolling options, i.e. A-Z along the right hand side like in the iPod app to find my playlists more easily (I've got a lot of playlists!) • album artwork in the playlist view instead of the default music note symbol • add music to a new playlist • share to facebook, delicious, twitter etc • radio, like in the desktop app Obviously, I'd love for the app to be able to run in the background, but I realise, for now at least, this is out of your hands. I'm considering jailbreaking my iphone, purely to be able to use the backgrounder app with spotify. Keep up the great work, and resist all attempts by Apple to buy you out! :)
*Excited* Sometimes, the current version will claim to be "offline" (aka. only offline playlists can be played) even when I have 3G coverage. Will this be fixed in the update? Also, when using spotify in the car, sometimes when driving through rural areas, where coverage is spotty, the audio can drop out for minutes at a time. How about pre-loading say the next 3-4 songs in a playlist when the coverage is good enough, to avoid such situations?

j4m1eb & islanddawn, I think what presence and I mean, is when browsing/searching for music, you can click "Add to playlist", which lets you add music to an existing playlist but not a new one. I know you can create a new one first, then do this, but it's a lot more time consuming (having to name the playlist as well) than in the desktop app, where you can just drag an album from the right hand screen to the "+ New Playlist" option on the left, where it automatically names the new playlist as "Artist - Album"

Oh, and one other request! Please disable auto screen-lock! I have a work profile installed which means I have to have a 3-min screen-lock enabled, which cannot be disabled. This is a pain when I'm listening to Spotify in the car, as I need to tap in my unlock code if I want to change the music. Nearly caused me to crash this morning!
Yesterday I was riding my mountain bike in the deep and dark woods in the outskirts of Oslo. I was listening to my preloaded playlist called Music for biking. I was all a lone, it was dark. Then my phone called. It was my wife. She aasked me: Are you listening to Spotify. I said: Yes, why? She said: Can you please get the hell out, I am trying to play a Anne Cath Vestly soundbook for your kids but was kicked out. So i had to stop my bike, press the "force offline" mode, call her back and then restart the playlist in offline mode. That could have been made easier, not?
@jthorese exactly the same problem. Please, allow more than one person by account. Some software come with family licence (5 account, for example), why don't doing the same? (Maybe for a price slightly upper)
odelaney - fair point I see what you mean, that is a little annoying the you have to do it round the other way. I have found myself having to back track to create a playlist before adding.
Not sure if this is possible but if it is would be a great improvement. "For the music to continue playing when you come out of the app to use other elements of your iphone such as the web etc..., even if it is only possible with Offline playlists" Other than that loving the app!
heatonmusic, not possible unfortunately, as apple doesn't allow apps to run in the background, i.e. once you hit the home, button, a 3rd party app such as Spotify, will close and can no longer run until you re-open it. Only Apple's own apps, such as iPod, Mail, Safari etc, can run in the background.

How is the Spotify app for Symbian going?
MY WISH-LIST: Please improve the User interface also: The Shuffle & Edit buttons top of the track list is too tall (and does the big music symbol have reason to exist ?), and in my opinion they don't have to be floating objects. Now the floating hurts general look and readability. And what about using white background on playlists and black bg on track list, black is way better looking?

Thanks guys, I find that if I exit the app without pausing the music & then pulling out the headphones it somehow fires up the ipod function on my iphone!! Anyone else had this glitch?? :)
Hey, Spotify group, where is background playback??? Is this Apple´s attitude problem or yours? I don't understand if I pay about 10e a month and still don't get full function of the program. Itunes works fine on background, so it's not hardware problem. Put some grip to Apples's neck, sue them or something!
as he above said and use of pause and skip tracks with the apple in-ear headset because it turns on the ipod instead. :)

Thats a great update! Also due to Apples limitations you can't run the app in the background, UNLESS you jailbreak which might break your warranty (but never let apple find out hehe), and download the backgrounder app where you just hold down the button when on spotify to run it as a background app
Please please......add Play Queue function to the Iphone app. That is the greates party thing to be able to add songs in a queue..and by adding this please add so that it is possible to search and add songs to the play queue. Then my life is complete.
Here are some changes I think should make it to the next update of the Spotify mobile app. •Be able to copy the song/album/artist URL to the clipboard. •Be able to see all songs by artist and album. •Perhaps a nicer startup screen, displaying the Spotify logo in a nice way. •Remove/use the album art icon in the playlists, what is it there for? •This is easier to describe in a scenario: Say I created a new playlist on my iPhone but didn't have time to sync the whole playlist on my WiFi-connection. If I then listen to one of the songs on the playlist on the 3G-connection it should sync back to the playlist. Thanks for an awesome app, and an awesome program!
