We have another update to our music catalogue to let you know about. Today we added over 3,200 albums and singles for a total of more than 30,000 new tracks.
Some of the notable additions today include a couple of albums from the Canadian indie rock band, Rheostatics. Also added were a number of releases from Domino Records, albums from artists such as The Last Shadow Puppets, Robert Wyatt and Stephen Malkmus are included.
For a full listing of today’s additions please have a look at the Google Doc. As with every update not all albums listed may be available in your country due to regional restrictions.

Los Campesinos! are *not* the same band as Los Campesinos: the new albums added are by the Spanish act who don't have an exclamation mark in their name, the existing stuff are by the Cardiff-based act who do have an exclamation mark in their name. Simple, eh? ;)
Another fine update. Thanks Andres and the Spotify team!
Great update as usual, but still disappointed at the lack of Eliza Carthy, Little George Sueref & the Bluenotes and the remaining Sufjan Stevens catalogue. Hope they'll be on soon.
I just wonder one thing. How many albums, artists and songs have you uploaded since start? And how many do you have left(that is, the albums that exist now)?
simonvidar - We've probably updated a little less than half the tracks we have currently licensed, so there is still a lot to add.
Very nice - but you should do something about dating of albums. Robert Wyatt did not release his entire production in 2008, even if the entire catalogue was remastered then...
Jens Lekman!!! Yeeees! I've been waiting for this since November!
Oh my god. Thanks Spotify for adding Jens Lekman's album "Night Falls Over Kortedala". Now it's just "When I Said I Wanted To Be Your Dog" left to add! But thanks anyway!
The only thing missing on Spotify at the moment is Eddie Vedders soloalbum, also known as the soundtrack to the movie 'Into the Wild' by Sean Penn. I'd buy premium the second its up! ;)
Great that Spotify keeps updating. I'm loving it! Just one thing though, a lot of the albums I love are old, deleted albums from the 'cock rock' 80's/90's. What are the chances of those albums being uploaded onto Spotify? Also, why is it that sometimes there is only one version of a song by a band, but that version might be either a 'live' version or worse...a cover version of the song! Why isn't it possible to have the original AND the other version?
Wow! The Joystix!!! (Hungary's own version of Backyard babies) and Presidents of the USA! You made my easter so to speak. Still miss the NIN-albums Ghosts and The slip. And why all Iron maiden-albums except Fear of the dark?
Thanks for all the updates and new music. Just a couple of points... 1st - would it be possible to add a column to new releases to indicate which countries the releases are / are not available in...2nd - will you be trying to get licenses for material for smaller independent labels releases ( which is one of Napster's redeeming features ). This would be a clincher for me to upgrade to premium I think. Anyway keep up the good work.
To andres: But how many songs, albums and artists are there right now?
"This album is currently not available in Sweden." Premium account cancelled. Thanks fellas, it was fun while it lasted.
gizmodus, stop being a bitch. It's not Spotify's fault if the record company want to have restrictions on their music for now. Your last sentence implies you won't even still use the free version which is just retarded over this. Thanks for this, Spotify.
Oh year...Finally more Presidents Of The United States Of America albums. Still missing few, but fine update. :)
What's happened Kate Bush's Hounds of Love album? Only temporary I hope! I think a few other artists / tracks have disappeared too.
Any chance of adding Falling Rain by Odessa?
@simonvidar: In Sweden there are appr. 2,8 million tracks, 254.000 artists and 246.000 albums. Not bad.
Var har Anna Järvinen tagit vägen? Jag fick feeling (spotify:album:2YbGcQdfRlr0t7UEgaLPSf) är borta sedan ett par veckor. Och hennes nya finns inte
Would be nice if tracks you wanted to try didn't have "not available in the UK" against them.
It would be nice with a statistic-site about spotify.
"We’ve probably updated a little less than half the tracks we have currently licensed, so there is still a lot to add. " Wow - so much more to come! Great service, so much great music already and will only get better.
WTF! Why are albums still disappearing (in Sweden)!? Two albums by Kate Bush for example... Why is that!? Is this sneaky way of removing things ever going to stop? Why not publish lists of everything that you remove as well? *not happy*
where is band of horses? they are really good, you should add them to spotify asap!!
Hi! I can't find one of my favourite songs, Dj Sammy - Heaven. Could you please fix that?
@tomc: She changed distribution, but should come back later on.
Any chance The Knife will be added properly? Right now I get the bio of the Swedish band but an album by some metal band with the same name... http://open.spotify.com/artist/2TJQLb06ONnCpnYJAZGAUh
any chance of adding more dance/happy hardcore tracks?? like scott brown??
Bra men jag saknar "Tingeling"! (och de andra låtarna från melodifestivalerna)
My spotify is not working. It reads updating and then dissapears for five seconds, then a box pops up saying: The Spotify Updated is trying to update spotify, but did not suceed. Could you please help?
Where's Century Media ? They were supposed to be signed long time ago.. still waiting for their stuff :/
poraro: I'm neither a bitch nor retared. Not sure why you would assume such a thing. And no, it's not Spotifys fault that the musíc industry still lives in the stone age. But services like Spotify will suffer because of it, and ultimately fail. I'll still use the free version of Spotify occasionally. And illegaly download any music the record companies decide my nationality should prevent me from aquiring legally.
Stone age indeed.. I love this service, and I had decided to get premium as soon as I get a job again (which still hasn't happened), but I'm not quite sure after that little stunt by the labels.. Still, there is a lot of music available, and hopefully the labels will listen to their customers.. Maybe :P I'm guessing that if companies could have forced stores not to sell physical albums overseas before, they would have. Anyway, thanks for this service, Spotify, it's great :)
Would be good to get some family force 5 in thank you, plus i think you need to work on a way to play while offline
The latest issue of Web User magazine (www.webuser.co.uk) features a two-page guide to getting the most from Spotify. Long may you reign!
Spotify refuses to start for me, claiming "Internal corruption detected" - I assume it's referring to the music business rather than the (absolutely untouched) files on my laptop. Glad I didn't spend any money for a service which can be withdrawn on a whim of a bureaucrat.
@kingofwrong: Please tell me you're not as dim as you appear to be.
@quotidiantemerity: No, I'm not. It's presumably an overactive check for tampering with the installation/running app, with a phone-home as part of that. The fact that a working installation on Tuesday becomes one which refuses to start with "Internal corruption detected. Spotify will now quit." on Saturday is at best cack-handed. Reinstalling 0.3.11 failed (same error), as did uninstalling and reinstalling 0.3.11 (same error), as did uninstalling and installing 0.3.13 (same error)... until five hours later, when it just started working again. Clearly I'm a moron, so why don't you patronise me some more?
USA is better than UK haha!!!
Getting better and better. But - you still have some confusing mix-ups, like the Thorns presented in the biography is NOT The Thorns that issued spotify:album:56OTL45lCZacNm1F56Hwei. Could we please get the album that The Thorns (Matthew Sweet, Pete Droge, and Shawn Mullins) did release?
Should fix this... you have an Biography for Cessida but all the songs are by some other techno artist (mind me but Cessida was, as the description states "a British art rock band") http://open.spotify.com/artist/3TarSQLteG4x5prong6iPz Cheers!
There is Biosphere, Controlled Bleeding, Ran Slavin, Main and few others. Could we hear soon Lustmord, Robert Rich, Lull, Torum, Vidna Obmana? Generally more dark and drone ambient?
Great, especially for The Last Shadow Puppets. But I'm still waiting for the elimination of international restrictions in some music tracks. For example, I couldn't understand "Invaders must die" or "Infinity 2008" restrictions in the spanish version of Spotify...
@gizmodus: I called you both of those because I thought you meant you would boycott Spotify completely. But it's good you're still gonna be using the free version.
I still find it troublesome that on some albums about ½ of the songs are missing. Please fix it?
You should mention the fact that with every update to the catalogue tracks may be removed as well as added. It's wrong to give users the impression that you are only adding tracks when, due to the way that music publishing works, you will often be required to remove or restrict tracks that were previously available. I suggest you should change the standard text that you use in the blog with every update that says... "As with every update not all albums listed may be available in your country due to regional restrictions." to something like... "As with every update not all albums listed may be available in your country due to regional restrictions. Albums or individual tracks previously available in your country may also become unavailable due to publishing contract changes, changes in rights ownership or changes to regional restrictions." Everytime you make an update there are questions about albums or tracks disappearing so this does not appear to be an isolated incident but something that happens with every update. You need to explain this more clearly.
@diestro: pues llevas toda la razón. Lo acabo de mirar y es por eso.
I don't think as many people will care about this comment, but i'm just posting what's on my mind (and hoping that someone from Spotify will read this), but the death metal band Whitechapel, from the USA, is still not on here, making me very depressed. When I type them into spotify, their Biography is there but the music is by some Christian band also called Whitechapel. This is very depressing for me because they are my favorite band and they have a new album out which I can't hear because it's not been released in the UK, so I'm being driven to illegally downloading it. I know this isn't Spotify's fault, and I really do think that Spotify could change the world (musically) but if anyone in Spotify is, for any reason, reading this then PLEASE do something about it. Thanks! Shepleklet
