Spotify Premium, Zarif UK exclusive

zarif.jpgWe have a great exclusive pre-release available to Spotify Premium users in the UK. Starting today you can listen to the the debut single from Zarif, who some are calling the “next big thing in British soul”. The 23 year old’s new single, Let Me Back, (out 6th April) is exclusively available for Spotify Premium in the UK until the 23rd of March and for all Spotify users after that.

Zarif herself is a big fan of Spotify. She’s put together her own collaborative playlist and would love for fans to add their favorite tracks to it.

Lägg in Finland på de här “special-förmån” listorna i fortsättningen! (Speciellt då det gäller lika bra musik som nu!)

Is this debut single really available to ALL Spotify users after March 23rd, or is it just available to all Spotify users in the UK?

digithed: "The 23 year old’s new single, Let Me Back, (out 6th April) is exclusively available for Spotify Premium in the UK until the 23rd of March and for all Spotify users after that." Totally clear to me! :)

@cure33: It's not totally clear and you are only speculating (unless you are an employee of Spotify in which case I apologise). With the amount of restrictions applied by the artists and record labels and the total lack of any global licensing agreements it is far from clear that this track will be available to all Spotify users in all the countries where Spotify is currently available. I am just keeping Andres on his toes since he has made mistakes in previous blog annoucements. Not really his fault since the artists and record labels make the whole situation so complicted.

@digithed: You are SO right!

digithed - Valid question, I'm told everyone and Sony stuff is usually widely available but I'd double check since it's always possible that the data we get is different.

The CD cover reminds me of the cover for Riot! by Paramore..

"With the amount of restrictions applied by the artists and record labels" Indeed. :// Go Spotify!

I have a request/question about playlists: - Would it be possilbe to add a function that generates a HTML page of youre playlist? Sometimes it's nice to share a playlist in text, not just a link. :-)

Great news! Take a look at my blog, http://www.areyouspotified.com/

I'm not a premium user, and I can listen. :/

As I suspected, it is now after 23rd of March and the debut single from Zarif is not available to all Spotify users as you claimed in the original post. I just get a nice message saying "This album is currently not available in Sweden". Please try and be more accurate in your blog posts if you promise something and don't deliver it's worse than not promising it at all.

Don't think anyones reading this entry any more but I'll post anyway. The date is now April 6 (the revised date that Andres said that the record label said this debut single would finally be available in Sweden) but guess what... still not available. Oh well I guess Sony Music Entertainment just doesn't care about the Swedish market. Perhaps we are too small for them. Hope this doesn't mean that Sweden will always be the poor relation with regards to available content. If available content will be based on the size of the available market then Sweden is screwed.
