Find your favorite music

Whenever a song comes to mind, or you remember an artist you’ve heard of – search for it and play it instantly. The search box is located in the top left corner of the client, simply type and press enter.

You will be presented with a results list from which you can sort by what is most relevant for you. You can also do more advanced queries by adding additional operators such as specific genre, year, or whether or not the results should include or exclude something in particular.

Basic search

Millions of tracks to choose from, where do you start? With a simple search.

Just type the name of an artist, track or album in the search box in the top left of Spotify.

Advanced search

For even smarter searching, consider adding a year or genre.

Use the words AND, OR + NOT to refine your search.

For example:
year: 1984 AND artist Madonna

Search within playlists/search results – filter results

With longer playlists or search results, you can filter your results by using:

Windows – ctrl + f
Mac – cmd + f

The filter will begin as soon as you start typing.

Search for other users

If you know the username of another Spotify user, you can search for them by typing their username into the search box. You can also do this to search for artists.
