Apps are a new way to extend the functionality of Spotify. Apps offer more ways to discover, explore, share and enjoy music.
You’ll find an APPS section in the sidebar menu of Spotify.
We have moved two built-in Spotify features to your apps: Top Lists, and Radio. On the top, you’ll see the App Finder
The App Finder shows all the Apps that are available.
To use an app, just click on its icon in the App Finder. The app will load and start straight away.
To stop using an app, either click on the Spotify’s back button, or click on any Spotify feature that is not part of the app. The app will stop shortly after you navigate away from it. Apps do not run in the background.
To give convenient access to an app you use regularly, you can add it to the APPS section of your sidebar. There are two ways to do this:
Adding an app simply puts the app’s icon in your APPS list, giving you a convenient shortcut to start the app. It doesn’t mean that the app is installed (apps don’t require installation), or give it any special privileges. You can use an app without adding it to the sidebar.
To remove an app from your APPS list, right-click the app icon, and select Remove.
When you use an app, Spotify allows the app limited access to your music library and other information, and permits the app to perform certain actions within Spotify. This is to enable the app to perform useful functions, such as recommending music or creating playlists. This access ceases shortly after you leave the app.
All information access is subject to the Spotify Privacy Policy, under “2. Sharing information with others”
Apps are created by our app partners. All apps are approved by Spotify before they appear in the App Finder, to ensure they follow our App Guidelines and offer a consistent and high-quality user experience.
