Can I use Spotify to play music in my bar, restaurant, store, school etc?

I’m going to travel outside my profile country, can I use Spotify there?

Information for subscribers through broadband supplier or mobile carrier

This information is for customers who have arranged Spotify Premium through one of our subscription partners, such as a mobile carrier or broadband supplier.

How to activate Spotify Premium

If you already have a Spotify account, make sure that your account does not have Spotify Unlimited or Spotify Premium. If it does, please read “If you already have a Spotify subscription“, below, before continuing.

If you do not have a Spotify account, an account will be created for you during the activation process.

To activate your subscription, use the partner’s activation process on their website.

If you already have a Spotify subscription

If you already have Spotify Unlimited or Spotify Premium, you won’t be able to activate the Spotify Premium from the partner while your existing subscription is still active.

First, cancel the renewal of your existing Spotify subscription. You can do this on your Subscription page. Your subscription will then expire on the date it was due to renew, and your account will revert to Spotify Free. You will be able to see the expiry date on your Subscription page.

When your account reverts to Spotify Free, you will be able to use the partner’s activation process to add Spotify Premium to your account.

If you activate your partner subscription on the wrong Spotify account

Please contact the partner through which your Spotify subscription is arranged. They will be able to help to assign your subscription to the correct Spotify account.

Cancellation of your subscription

If you would like to cancel your partner subscription to Spotify, please contact the partner through which the subscription is arranged. The partner is managing your subscription, and has access to your billing information.

Can I get 12 months of Spotify Premium in advance?

Changing payment interval

If you have an active Premium subscription you can change your payment interval to 12 months. Just log in to your Subscription page and choose the option.

The 12-month period will start on the date of your next subscription renewal. No charge is made until then.

After the 12-month period is over, your subscription will return to monthly payments again.

Using a Spotify e-card

If you do not have an active Premium subscription, you can buy a 12-month e-card and use it on your Spotify account. Make sure that you log into your account on the website before you buy e-card, and when you are redeeming it.

You do not need to enter a recipient name or email. You will receive a receipt, which will contain the Premium code. You can then use the code to add a 12-month subscription to your account.

Can I switch between different products?

Yes, you can switch between any of the products

To upgrade to Spotify Premium continue to the Get Spotify Premium page. To downgrade from Spotify Premium to Spotify Unlimited, visit the cancellation page and click “Change to Spotify Unlimited”.

The change to Spotify Unlimited will take place on your next subscription renewal, when you will be charged for Spotify Unlimited.

What happens with my remaining subscription time if I upgrade from Unlimited to Premium?

If you have a subscription to Spotify Unlimited and upgrade your subscription to Spotify Premium, the remaining time that you had on your Spotify Unlimited subscription you have left will be converted to Spotify Premium subscription time, based on the difference in price. If you currently have a Spotify Unlimited subscription and would like to see how your time converts, continue to the Get Spotify Premium page, where the conversion will be shown.

For how long can I travel with Spotify Unlimited and Spotify Premium?

Spotify Unlimited and Spotify Premium give you unlimited access outside your asccount profile country. Wherever you are in the world, you will be able to listen to all your music.

Can I upgrade to Spotify Premium if I am abroad?

Yes, you can subscribe to Spotify Premium wherever you are by logging in and visiting your account overview page.

Upgrading from Spotify Unlimited to Spotify Premium

NUS student discount offer

The NUS Spotify Student Discount offers you a 50% discount on Spotify Premium for up to one year.

Who is eligible for the Student Discount ?

The offer is open to all UK students who’ve signed up to the NUS extra card. If you don’t yet have an NUS Extra card, you can get one for £11 per year from the NUS website.

Non-UK students: Note that you will need your country setting to be UK in your Spotify account profile. You will also need to use a UK payment card.

How take advantage of the Student Discount

Visit the Spotify Student Discount page at the NUS website. Click the button at the bottom of the page to get the offer (you will need to log in first). You will then be directed to the Spotify website to complete the process.

Alternatively, you can go directly to the NUS Student Discount page at the Spotify website. In this case you will need to fill in your NUS extra card details manually.

Current subscribers to Unlimited, Premium (or Premium Free Trial)

If you already have a Spotify subscription, the discounted rate will apply at the time of your next subscription renewal after signing up for the NUS discount offer.

If you have Spotify Unlimited your Spotify account will be upgraded to Spotify Premium on the renewal date. The discounted Premium rate will be charged. At current subscription rates, this means that, although your account has been upgraded to Premium, your subscription charge won’t change.

Can I continue to get this offer for a second year if I am still a student?

Currently, the offer is valid for one year. We will announce any changes to the offer.

My NUS Extra membership number is not being accepted

Make sure your membership number is valid for this academic year. If your membership number has already been used for this offer, it cannot be used a second time.
