Set up by Chris Blackwell in 1959, Island records is one of the music industry’s most iconic labels, the home of artists ranging from Bob Marley to U2, from Robert Palmer to Free, from Amy Winehouse to Mumford And Sons, from Pulp to PJ Harvey, from John Martyn to Nick Drake and many more.
This Saturday Island Records live showcase Island Life returns to Camden Crawl. Headlining are the newly signed Kings of Camden Tribes. Playing a headline show in the area that is their spiritual home, this is one of the must-see shows of this year’s Crawl. Also on the bill, Jon Fratelli, now sounding more barn-storming than ever in solo guise his legions of loyal fans will be heating up tiny Enterprise pub following some art-pop glamour brought to the bill Island’s cerebral sugar babe Cocknbull Kid. The label’s rising stars complete the line up; Kid Adrift, Rizzle Kicks and Angel.
You can check out music from these artists and other Island rising stars of 2011 on the Island Records playlist here.
