Spotify for BlackBerry available now

Blackberry for Spotify

We are excited to let you know that our BlackBerry app is no longer a Preview release and is now available to any user with a compatible phone. To download the app simply point the browser on your phone to m.spotify.com and follow the installation instructions.

Compatible phones include Bold 9780, Bold 9700, Curve 9300, Bold 9000, Curve 8520. Currently the app only supports phones running on GSM networks. CDMA-network phones and the Torch 9800 are not compatible.

As with all of our mobile app you’ll need a Spotify Premium subscription to stream from our catalogue. You can take advantage of our 48-hour free trial directly from the mobile app or sign up to our 30-day free trial to give it a spin.

Enjoy!

nome funciona spotify

and why is not compatible with the Torch 9800? and are you planning on making it compatible for the Torch 9800? thanks

Just installed the full app, as I have been running the preview. Excellent early Christmas present.

@irbg: You need to ask RIM that. There is a bug on the Torch that sometimes makes the offline cache go kabloomie and disappear. But if you update to the latest OS version and are willing to take your chances, well go ahead. (But please don't come back here complaining if things go bump in the night.)

Will you make it compatable with the Storm2 ? any time soon..Ican only hope.

Why isnt it available for Bold 9900? What is the current version of spotify blackberry app?

my phone is asking for the following modules, where do I get them? net_rim_media_actions net_rim_bb_browser_field2_api

@orkneymulac: You need to update to at least OS5.

Any chance we get a playbook app?

@michaelheredia: We haven't done enough QA to feel confident about it on that device. But you could always be sneaky and try it anyway and hope for the best. Also the current version of the Blackberry app is 0.5.0.3.g37b669e4.

why no CDMA love? can't even use it over wifi? and I have another 18mo until I can replace this crap phone...

Instalado pero no me funciona. Me sale incio sesion fallido: mire sus ajustes de conexion wifi y apn...Q TENGO Q HACER!

Blackberry curve 8530???? I tried to install it but it said that it could not detect a compatible device?

the spotify app on my mobile device keeps crashing! what's the deal? i've been looking for an updated version of the app to fix the problem and there isn't one. i got spotify premium so i could get my money's worth and listen to it wherever i want. Please fix the app crashing! Spotify is the only app on my device that does this!

@tincanfury: The OGG decoder bundled with the CDMA devices doesn't support OGG streaming (only playing local files) which pretty much ruins the fun and games of having a streaming music service app (using OGG).

@fizabyte: Ok, some more info is probably needed. What device? What username? Describe the crash.

Great, but could you fix it so that it works over a wi-fi connection rather than using the mobile phone system?

Whoohoooooo! Finally! Thanks guys!

I'd love for it to work over wifi!

It does work over wifi instead of 3G, if you are connected to that. There will be a small wifi symbol in the top right corner notifying this.

Thanks bobcat_zed appreciate it....

I've been using the beta on Bold 9900 for a month now and it's worked excellently. Throws up an occasional soft error message, but still works. It's worth noting that when the beta first came out, I couldn't get the wifi to work at at all on the app. It was an OS update to 540 that sorted it for me.

Jus some info for you guys... Works just fine on my 9810. Been using the beta for a few months and no issues. Updated to the final build and again no probs so far. Also installed in my sisters 9800 and works fine on that device too... Not too sure why they haven't said its compatible with OS7 devices!

By mistake, I pushed the BB mobile download option in one of my playlist which started its dowloading. I couldn't stop and now I do not know if the playlist is downloaded with the money charge that this means. The downloading option in BB has the following problems: - There is not a passwork request before the dowloading stars (something that happens in my computer) - There is no option to stop it through the spotify app in my BB - It is very easy to push "download" when you are using spotify in your BB Please could you clarify my situation? Thx

will it work on my 8520

samnickmike: The BlackBerry Curve 8530 is a CDMA device. You need a standard GSM BlackBerry handset to use the Spotify app.

Luke Ludvick: Yes, I used the preview for a while on my Curve 8520. Only problem is that the 8520 is a slightly old device, so you really do notice lag with a modern app like Spotify

Cheers for this anyway. but I've moved to the iPhone, where the app has a much better design, though you can't be faulted for that, BlackBerry rendering graphics are SO bad.

Hey!, esto ya va. Mi 9800 a toda pastilla con spotify!!!... el problema estaba en el dispositivo. El 9800 ejecuta perfectamente la aplicación, no sé por qué dicen que no es compatible.

I'm sad :( Was excited about mobile spotify on my BB!!! Downloaded, signed up, pushed play. Not supported :( I'm Verizon CDMA. Boo....

aggravating you lure users in who use a BBery on Verizon, allow them to install the app. You open app, looks all good.. then a not supported message. So now i get to use my MacAir via bluetooth dongled to my 9900 over CDMA broadband to play spotify music while driving... Real safe- and i am one of your first few users in the US who helped spread the word.

This app only works under wifi and not over 3G could someone help me fix this problem?

SPOTIFY SUCKS! CONTINUALLY LOCKS MY PC SINCE I INSTALLED IT.CAN'T REMOVE PROGRAM! CAN'T GET ANY HELP FROM YOUR WEBSITE! WHAT DO I HAFTA DO? THERE ARE NO TOOLS AVAILABLE,SO...I WILL TRY VIOLATING YOUR TERMS OF SERVICE. FUCK YOU FUCKING FUCKERS...GET FUCKED, FUCK OFF AND GO FUCK YOURSELVES. FUCK YOU VERY MUCH, FUCKING PISSED OFF FUCKER FUCKING PISSED

Curious as to why you didn't make it compatible with all blackberry devices? For someone who uses it now almost all the time not having on my phone is a pain. Are there plans of expanding it to CDMA?

@dmbgirl81: We couldn't get it to work on CDMA phones because a bug on them prevents OGG files (the music format we use) from being streamed. Not much point of having a Spotify app then....

@java7617: Do you really have a Bold 9900? Then it should work. But if you are on Verizon I actually guess you have a 9930. Even so you might have some luck in the future, our tests indicates that we might actually get the app to work on the Bold 9930.

So do you guys have plans to release a CDMA compatible version or is it not in the books? I really want to get a premium account but only if it will be compatible on my phone since that's where I listen to the bulk of my music.

quiero un codigo para que sea premium mi spotify, alquien sabe como conseguirlo

The app works fine on my Blackberry but it will not broadcast over Bluetooth to my car (the built-in Blackberry player has no problem with this). Is there something I need to do to get Spotify to play the music over Bluetooth? Thanks.

please please please get us a blackberry torch app soon

Finally I can use spotify on my blackberry but I think there is yet one bug to solve: I'm not able to fast forward a song. Is this a well know issue? Thanks.

para cuando en blackberry torch??

EN BLACKBERRY TORCH YA ESTA DISPONIBLE :D !

Hi there...I installed the spotify app on my blackberry curve 9360 before x-mas and it worked fine. Due to an error on my mini sd-card (memory card) I had to delete it and install it again, but since it doesn´t even open anymore. Any ideas? I have a new card in the phone now and all apps work perfectly but spotify won´t even open unfortunately. Since I have the premium account I´d love to get this sorted somehow. Many thanks for your response(s).

Hi David! What happens when you try to start the app? Is there a specific error message? To take this further I will probably need your email, so we can take this somewhere else than in this public thread.

Hi there, I am very pleased with Spotify and have been running it for a long time on my iPod Touch. Glad that there now is a BlackBerry Spotify app but I also wonder about the bluetooth support - is there bluetooth support in the roadmap? Both for streaming to BT headset but also to use BT streaming in cars.

Hi bobcat-Zed, no unfortunately there is no error-message...it just doesn´t open, doesn´t get black or so. Nothing happens that´s all. Would be great to solve this. YOu can email me on: david.lauwiner@gmail.com

It works remarkably well on my 9780. Searching and grabbing track/artist data is quite slow but in general it works well and hasn't crashed yet (unlike the iPod version I had). I've noticed it forgets that headphones are connected it you swap applications then return to it.
