Our friends at NME have curated a playlist with their picks to be the 50 best tracks of 2011.
What a year for music it’s been. Gathering up NME writers’ top tracks is always a joy, and 2011 was no exception. Their top three this year were out-of-nowhere surprises that took the artists behind them to wider consciousness than ever before. There are pristine pop moments, blasts of aggressive noise-dance, raw howls of punk.
But whatever form they take, these were the songs that made the NME crew stop what we were doing and go, “What is THIS?” We hope you enjoy listening to the playlist as much as they did compiling it.
