Spotify and Onkyo – a match made in HiFi
We’re pleased to announce that Spotify will be available, for the first time, on home cinema receivers with our new partnership with Onkyo.
Spotify will be available on many of Onkyo’s 2011 network models, including the brand new TX-NR609, an updated version of the best-selling TX-SR608.
Spotify can be operated from any television screen connected to Onkyo’s home cinema receivers. With a few simple clicks on your remote you’re given onscreen access to your own playlists as well as your “What’s new” and “Starred” lists. You’ll also be able to explore further to browse artists, albums and tracks.
All you need to enjoy Spotify on Onkyo is an internet connection and a Spotify Premium subscription and you’re set to go!

Cool! Was just looking for a new receiver, so Onkyo it will be. Hope it is available in the Netherlands.
This feature is exactly what I am longing for! Super job Spotify! Right now I have a Spotify client in my digital tv box, but that client leaves to want. It lookes like this i a proper client, where you can search for artists and tracks. Awesome!! (Thank god, the feature is inside this great amp also..)

Great idea! But when can we have it integrated in car-stereos? The advanced models now come with touchscreens etc, and I would love to have spotify with offline-mode available directly through the remote on the steering wheel. ;)

Just bought an TX-NR708 earlier this year, I really hope we will get this in a future firmware update.

Tengo que decir, que la verdad, después de 10 años el receptor Onkyo que tengo, funciona de maravilla y no había encontrado ningún motivo para cambiarlo hasta leer este post ;-)
By cripes, that's a good idea. Could sell my old TX-SR607 and pay only £300 for the upgrade to get Spotify. Sweeeeet! If it supported BBC iPlayer then it would be a done deal.

Spotify is starting to get somewhere! I have a suggestion! Make a deal with the car stereo companies. It would be a really great thing to have Spotify on your car stereo without using a mobile device :)
I guess Spotify will come in the car infotainment (at the latest) in about 18 months or so. At least if you buy the next generation Saab 9-3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BOd9oX1p4s

Will this work on my 1 year old Onkyo that also have internet connection?
In Norway digital transmition will be mandatory so all tuners will be obsolete. Is the Onkyo reciever digital for radio listening? If yes I will run and buy as soon as it's in stock. By the way Onkyo is great and offer fantastic value for money.

SR-TX607 is my weapon of choice at the moment and run Airfoil to stream over Wifi using Airport Express. It works nicely and the mac's batterylife means you can pass the mac around. Anybody heard any news on party mode?
Think bigger! Nice, but why just music? Now that spotify is going TV the next natural step is to have access to all movies. Ever. Pay a monthly fee and "Watch all you can" as with Spotify music.
Nice, but navigating through the Onkyo OSD is probably a bit difficult.

Hugely important step for you guys, maybee if you would see it fit to even be so innovative to create a native ipad app. That would be huge and even generate money coming from everyday-mortals like us

fantastic news.i'd also like to see spotify available on pure sensia streaming dab radios & plenty of other products across the board as people have already touched upon.as internet tv apps grow & become the norm rather than the current must have,spotify needs to ensure it's place among the top table on our lounge tv screens! come on spotify give it some tescoe style welly!
I've had different Onkyo's for the last 20 years, so I can assure you that it is the best buy! Onkyo is way better in soundquality and power compare to alot of the mainstream amplifiers/receivers . And now with Spotify, OMG! Run and buy! Onkyo fan ;-)

A la première vue, j'ai crié de joie :) Après, je me suis demandé s'il fallait laisser ma TV allumée en permanence pour contrôler spotify ? Si c'est le cas, c'est EDF qui va être content ! Du coup, je préfèrerai plutôt (et plus tôt !) une initiative à la RemoteLess mais en version "Made by Spotify", pour profiter de tout le fonctionnel de Spotify.
