We’re delighted to announce that we’ve joined forces with Logitech to bring Spotify to your Squeezebox Touch and Squeezebox Radio.
For those unfamiliar with Squeezebox, we highly recommend you check out their great wireless music systems. The Squeezebox Touch and Squeezebox Radio players use your existing wireless home network to stream music throughout your house. Squeezebox is simple to use and easily expandable by adding more Squeezebox players in other rooms – like your kitchen, bedroom or patio.
With our new app you can now access our comprehensive catalogue of more than ten million songs, and all your playlists, anywhere in the home.
The Spotify app will be available through Logitech’s MySqueezebox app site in the very near future for Spotify Premium subscribers. However, if you simply can’t wait to get your hands on the app and demand that Spotify pump music wirelessly throughout your home as of this minute, you can check out the Beta release right now.

This is great news. Will it work for any player that supports the MySqueezebox (like Duet or Boom) or is it restricted to particular models in the Squeezebox range?
Great - Now how about Xbox 360 and PS3 support?
Any chance of an app for the Pure Sensia radio?
Nice! Is there a plugin for XBMC Dharma? That would be awesome...
Great News. But what about "Squeezebox Boom"? And will offline playlist be available? Thanks..
publicenergy - There's no mention on mysqueezebox.com of any hardware restrictions for the app. It would be good to have this confirmed though. (I bought a Duet just a few days ago, so I've got a vested interest in this myself!) This could well be thing thing to push me over the edge into a premium subscription.
Please just release the SDK for other platforms (Linux/ARM, Linux/mips), so we can choose our devices and not these expensive bulls***
It does not seem to be working on a Squeezebox 3 model, the application is installed but it's not accessible. The application also shows the following text: "Compatible with: Squeezebox Radio, Squeezebox Touch"... So I guess im out of luck with support on my Squeezebox 3...
The link to the Beta-version isn't working. The URL is right, but it's just showing the first app in the list, Absolute Radio UK.
As stated in the blog post and in the MySqueezebox gallery - only the Squeezebox Radio and Touch are supported.
Disappointing. Are there plans of making an app for Squeezebox duet?
How does this work for families? If I use my account with a squeezebox device and my girlfriend wants to use it to listen will playback stop if I'm for example listening on my Android phone or PC at work?
There's always the 'Spotify Premium Plugin' in the third-party plugins section of Squeezebox Server, too. Works a charm.
I want Spotify for Boxee Box!
If you have a SqueezeBox server running on a machine that is supported by libspotify, you can use a third party server plugin for "older" devices like the duet. Yes that is a big if, since quite a few people are running spotify without a local server or in some cases the server is on a NAS, etc that is not supported by libspotify. For more info see: Spotify Premium Plugin by Triode http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79706
This is great news, even if I had hoped for SB3 support. I am also curious to know how this works when using multiple players. If you need multiple accounts there should be some form of family discount.
Does anyone have any idea as to why the support is limited to those two SB players?
Offtopic question: What the hell has happened with my playlist??! It ha been gone since christmas and fore some people it doesn't get updated with the new songs i add to it! I had 1000 songs in it so it's impossible to recreate it!
This is great news, I've really been looking forward to this! Oh, and to all of you requesting more versions for other exotic systems, show a bit of friggin' gratitude!
It would be better, for the purposes of the beta test, if this was opened up to Unlimited subscribers too (reverting to Premium subscribers only at the end of the beta, if necessary). Better still if there was a trial version open to everyone. This would be the app to make me upgrade my subscription from Unlimited to Premium, but I'd like to try it out first - to see if it works. I'm using Spotify less and less for listening to music now that I have a Squeezebox but that could change if Spotify works well on the device. Until I know Spotify works on the Squeezebox(and £9.99 a month is a lot to pay to find that out) last.fm will be my internet music station of choice.
No support for Squeezebox Boom? :(
I gave it a shot as I'm having problems with the 3rd-party plugin. It didn't work on my duet (as expected and stated) but I must say that I like the GUI and the response in the applikation. Have to keep troubleshoot my setup with the 3rd-party solution.
So when you are going to support blackberry?
Too bad it won't play Bob Dylan songs anymore (in France at least)... :-(
nice!, now we just waiting for the iPad app! :)
Thanks for spelling that out, Andres. Oh well, I guess it won't be coming soon to a Squeezebox anywhere near me then. Not even the one I bought last week. On the bright side, that's a tenner a month saved!
Great news! Altough I'm on the Duet so still only hoping until someone confirms that there is an intention to extend the support to the Duet as well. So far I'm enjoying the 3rd party plugin that works great for me. But if the official plugin could add some features to switch between different accounts to support the family use, multi-room with one account or at least using different accounts at the same time for different rooms.
Nice, but need support for Boom :-(
Nice but should be available to spotify unlimited, I would have been willing to pay a £5 subscription to have spotify on squeezebox but not £10
That's nice. Please bring it also to our MPD (music player deamon) and NMT (Networked Media Tank, i.e. Popcorn Hour and the like) systems! The MPD would be enough, because MPD will run on an NMT.
and I thought I was clever buying a Revo Blik ... such a shame because the radio and the company are so good.
Great news! Hopefully support will be extended to all recent Squeezes.
Only supporting Squeezebox Touch and Squeezebox Radio is a major disappointment. I suspect most of us who have been asking for Spotify on Squeezebox have older models. I know there's the unofficial plugin but I've been waiting for support that doesn't require you to run a server.
Works like a sharm!... ... But when will I be able to scrobble my Spotify-listenings to last.fm?
Instead of messing with this lame, crippled app only supporting a small subset of Sqeezebox devices, use Triode's Spotify Plugin already available in the Plugins section of Squeezebox Server. This plugin supports most Squeezebox models.

Here is the reason for not supporting other players than Touch and Radio: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=601390&postcount=13 So basically it's a hardware limitation with a potential workaround by adding transcoding to Squeezebox Server.
Does it have to be a Spotify Premium account to work on the SB Touch? Would like to trial first.
I have two Booms and one Classic so this is of no use to me. What a shame! Fortunately the third party Spotify plugin works great on the squeeze server pc. Accessible from all the old squeezeboxes and has been running for months.
Yes. This is best the news this year.
Got it! Just perfect!!
@Spen The SB duet supports Ogg, and still won't be supported by spotify.
Add possibility to buy spotify premium with mobile.
nice
Why not make this app avaliable for users with a Spotify Ultimate account?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CAN YOU GET SPOTIFY ON TO THE PS3!!!! it would be a great feature and an investment for spotify
Well, it's fine that SB Duet users can use the third party Spotify plugin, but unfortunately the plugin is only working on Intel or AMD-based processors! I have a Synology 209+II so I'm out of that game :-( When will it be possible for me to play Spotify via SB Duet?
That's awesome ! Good job ! Again :D
It's actually possible to use Spotify with other Squeezeboxes, with the unofficial 3rd party plug-in (found in the web settings for squeezebox server). Some of the staff at Logitech seem to suggest it was Spotify's suggestion to only officially support the Radio and Touch.
