We’ve been steadily working to add more devices to Spotify Mobile and we have an excellent addition to the family to let you know about. Earlier today our CEO Daniel took part in an event at Stockholm’s Royal Institute of Technology along with Steve Ballmer of Microsoft to announce that Spotify is now available for Windows phones 6.x!
Over the past few months we’ve been working with Microsoft to develop the Spotify app for Windows Phone and we’ve put together a demo video for you highlighting some of the great features, have a look.
The full list of features for Windows Phone includes:
· Search, browse and play millions of tracks
· Stream over WiFi or 2.5/3G - All your existing playlists are available
· Offline playlists - Play your music without an internet connection
· On-the-fly sync - Every track you add to a playlist appears on mobile and computer
· What’s New tab
· Wirelessly sync your local files to your phone
· Starred tracks - tag all your favourites into a special list
Windows Phone users can download the new app directly by visiting m.spotify.com, and it will also be available for download on Windows Marketplace for mobile shortly.
And one last thing – we’re also very excited to announce that Spotify will be available on the upcoming Windows Phone 7, which from what we’ve seen is going to be just fantastic.

Great news :) <3 Spotify :)
Still no blackberry support. Tragic.
Great news! Hope to see iPad support soon as well :)
That's it then, Window 7 phone for me. You were the deciding factor Spotify. Feel flattered. You deserve the praise. Keep up the good work... Oh wait, one question and a very important one. Will you be allowed to utilise the multitasking possibilities on the phone? I need my music and my texts. I'm not signing on the dotted line until I know if that's going to be possible. Please let me/us know.
lol @ Windows Phone.. Anyway, I hope Spotify for Android get's updated soon, it's low resolution UI looks awful on my Samsung Galaxy S :(
It's a bit strange that you didn't mention mobile streaming is premium users only. Check out http://www.spotifyclassical.com/ for Classical playlists on Spotify. The latest ones include Classical Music Used In Stanley Kubrick Films, Classical Music Inspired by Shakespeare, and Music From Earth, the Voyager Golden Record.
All right. This is the news I was waiting for. Windows Phone 7 for me, no doubt about it. Can't wait until October 21st!
@heatburns From what I hear, WP7 does supports some sort of multitasking. Yet to see if is possible for the Spotify WP7 app to play music using this scheme. Waiting for news from Spotify about this myself!
Looks very good on hTc touch HD! Good work! Thanks a lot!
That's pretty useless.
Great news ! But Spotify_0.4.7.27.CAB doesn't work on my Samsung SGH I900. Is there another version to try for old windows phone ? Thanks.
wow... they released WP6 version just 10 days before WP7 is publicly announced. good timing! ;)
mmh, what happened to Wagon Repair label ? it almost entirely vanished from spotify (3 albums remaining, all eps deleted). Did they request the removal ?
I also have an SGH i900 I downloaded and installed it, but its just way to high resolution so I cannot see anything. :S
Will there be a version for Zune HD?
Are you working on a Linux version for non-premium users? Thanks for the great service :)
I can however confirm it works on HTC Diamond
Great! Just subscribed as a Premium customer bacause of this :)
I have an HP iPaq 614c running Windows Mobile 6. According to m.spotify.com, Spotify is not available for my phone. Why is this? I was able to download it by selecting a different Windows Mobile 6 phone and it installed on my phone, but it crashes when I try to start it.
Guys, The Spotify launch in the US couldn't be any slower?... seriously, this country doubles the potential customers compared to all the UE countries where spotify is available, combined. i can't wait!!! :(
BEST NEWS I WAS WAITHING FOR SO LONG TIME.IM HAPPY
gadgetchannel, same around here with an iPAQ 914c running 6.5.3... What are the requirements for this to run?
I hope you will release an iPad version next. The iPhone version of spotify just looks horrible on iPad.
Does work on HTC Diamond, but the resolution seems all wrong, meaning that the only thing you can do is listen to playlists, NOT search for music etc... Still, very good work guys, have been waiting for this for a long time :)
It works gratte but sound rest it self to low volym then changs track wher cand post this bug?
Great news!
Excellent, bumped my subscription back up to premium on the back of this!! will last.fm scrobbling get added like it has on the latest Android update?
Tried it also on 6.1 and 6.5 emulators (QVGA / VGA)... A message box appears with "Unable to initialize storage of temporary items" and then app exits.
Still no blackberry... keep on waiting...
Works really great on my Sony Ericsson X1. Only one problem, my own local mp3 files have very low volume...?
@gadgetchannel, same here, except I have a HP iPAQ 914c like Delafuzz. Shame it doesn't, I was really looking forward to this, perhaps a future update would solve this?
"Unfortunately, HTC Touch HD isn't one of the phones that currently works with Spotify Mobile.." :( :( This is what I got when going to the website from my phone. How did you do it jagernaut?
Awesome...but not for the HTC HD mini :(
The problem seems to be the resolution, i tried to download the version for the SE X1 but that phone has a bigger resolution than my HTC Touch Diamond. Please fix this! I just upgraded my Unlimited to premium today just for offline playlists in my phone!
Are you planning on adding more phones?
Yes, resolution is the problem! I just tried the WVGA emulator and it works. So, currently only for 480x800 devices :-( My bubble got burst.
Thank you for listening to the community! Take a look at this feature http://getsatisfaction.com/spotify/topics/favorite_artist_alerts
Endelig. Bra folkens!!
I've got the same problem. It doesn't work on my QVGA phone (HTC Touch2). I was uber excited when I learned about this, and I was ready to jump on the go premium link, but that's kind of a letdown. But most of the hard work has been done already, hopefully a version for lower-res devices gets shipped soon, I have faith!
Works fine on a Touch Pro 2. Used the HD2 installer. Can't tilt it to use the fold-out keyboard but hey ho, it's all good.
Just want to notify that you connected the britsh band New Order with an american album. The New Order. Declaration of War. Dont know were else to submit such an issue, sorry...
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! A dream since the last two years have become true!!!!
Okay Spotify. Your timing is about as useful as an army against a large wooden horse. Poor. So, I have a Windows HTC HD2, loaded Android OS, magically, installed Spotify and disliked the bugs. And then bought an iPhone 4. Couldn't you have been a few day earlier and saved me £350? Well from now on I'll keep you informed on my purchases. I need a new microwave, which model supports Spotify these days?
I have the volume problem too. Whenever a new track starts the volume is reset to a very low level :( I'm using a HD2.
au lieu de développer pour un OS pas encore sorti, vous devriez développer la version pour ipad... traduction automatique par google: au lieu de développer pour un OS pas encore sorti, vous devriez développer la version pour ipad...
Automatic translation by google: instead of developing for an OS not released yet, you should develop the IPAD version ...
Fantastic news. Just tried it on my HTC HD2. Works perfect!
@zurga I manually selected touch pro 2, which is pretty much same specs wm6 phone. Although it seems that there is just one version of the software for wm6 phones, so just pick any.
Can't get this to work on the HTC Touch 2, when I start the application I see a black box, white bar at the bottom with cut off text. Seems to be a resolution problem? Anyone else experiencing this?
I got exactly the same problem on my HTC touch 2, hopefully they will fix it soon.
