This morning we’re really excited to announce a major evolution of Spotify. Today we begin rolling out Spotify version 0.4.3 which includes the largest feature upgrade since our launch in late 2008.
To kick it off we’ve added a number of social features, centered on a fully editable Spotify music profile, with the ability to publish playlists, top artists and top tracks for public view. Discovering these profiles is simple as we’ve connected with Facebook so that you can instantly add your friends’ profiles.
As well as introducing a variety of new social features, Spotify is evolving into a total music management platform. We’ve added a ‘Library’ folder in the left side bar, enabling you to combine your own music library with ours.
But before we get into all the details, we’ve put together a little video which will walk you through some of the new features.
That’s a taste of some of the new features we’ve added but there’s a fair bit more, in fact we’ve added over a dozen new features and improvements to this release. The full list of new features, which will be made available to both free and premium users, includes:
Social
Library
Additional features
So how do you get the new version? We’ve started rolling out the update to users today, however, it will take us a number of days to get it to everyone. Once we’re ready to update your account it will happen automatically upon restart so you won’t need to do anything.
We’ve been working long and hard on this for the past few months and we really hope you enjoy it!
Update: For information regarding updating your account please go to our service status page.

fantastic! but where's the function to sort your playlists in folders? :)
Wow! Really liking that you finally added the local file support. :) All the social stuff is just a plus.
Sweeet, can't wait :) thank you spotify, your the best music-service out there! :)
Wow, amazing stuff!
Wow, truly awsome. :-)
I have only one word to say: AWESOME!
Top stuff! Any extra bells and whistles for the Premium guys?
Sweeet. I want it now!
You should be very proud mates, you're making a very nice work, and that improve will me more than welcome, creating more premium users and giving reasons to the one we have it to stay Don't forguet Android update, with incoming devices, will be another good step Congratulations for the good work done, we'll talk about it on the web
bzrk +1 fantastic! but where's the function to sort your playlists in folders? :)

As several has already pointed out, where's the sorting function for playlist? Or a better playlist management at all?
Great! I was an avid Spotify user when I was living in the UK... I'm now in Oz and am missing out!! Any news of when we can join in the fun down under?
Nothing says major update like '0.4.3'. Anyway, wonderful to see local file support.
great work but where is the playlist functionality Nested folders and better sorting for playlists as well as dynamic library (database functionality) with tagging of songs would be great
oh my god, begin with doing a proper player with the ability to sort and group your playlist. I think the majority of the users would like some powerful playlist modifications to be made instead of a silly mosaic image, you know you have customers thats over 14 years.
Congrats on the update this looks awesome, can't wait for the update to arrive, keep up the great work!
Sounds awesome!
This is fantastic!
how do I download this?
this is amazing news, good job guys!
bzrk +2 fantastic! but where's the function to sort your playlists in folders? :)
How does ones privacy come into the picture regarding the local library feature? I don't want any record company to know what music I've added, (like unofficial bootlegs and such).
Security, sharing of local library to my phone? Slightly concerned and could use some clarification... However this is probably the most important update you guys have done, so here's a big 'WELL DONE' :) where's the news on the PS3 integration ;) that would make my year haha keep it up lads, very impressed...
sweet! finally social... now launch the service in the US soon plz :)
Very nice, BUT, where's the function to sort your playlists in folders?
Great! Now give me the update :)
Very nice!
I don't usually do feature request comments but I have to agree with many of the people here, some ability to manage playlists should be top of the improvements list. Other than that - looks like a great upgrade!
It's going to be... wait for it... LEGENDARY!
WOW - very cool. but does this mean offline syncing of playlists etc is now available to non subscribers?!
Please upgrade Android version too, we want to integrate our .mp3 files within Spotify, as on PC.
As stated a number of times... PLAYLIST PLAYLIST PLAYLIST The most fundamental part of any music service, and frankly Spotify just isn't up to par on this one. Also, a music service ought to put some thought to it's other core components such as the player. A normalize/leveller or an AGC would be an AWESOME update since a lot of tracks vary hugely in levels and power. Frankly I, as a sound engineer, DJ and musiclover have a hard time calling social music sharing AWESOME when a number of what should be basic functions are still lacking. My 2 cents...

Great stuff, really looking forward to trying it out. I'm another person who really would have liked to see better playlist management though... as I don't have a "library" as such, i have dozens of playlists which are not easy to navigate. Also, I really don't need to see the "last 5 searches" and they just take up real estate - any way of getting rid of those?
Can't wait for this!
will there be a native Linux version? if not, will it still work under wine?
Remember folks, this is version 0.4.3... the most awesome zero-something-app ever?? :) Spotify, you are truly changing my life :) THANKS :)
Gracenote? Oh no! They give horrible results. Why not use Musicbrainz instead?
This is great guys. Good work and thanks in advance! I'll stay put through all the baby issues you can count on that.
What a pleasant surprise, looks awesome!
this looks truly great, been there - designing similar... glad to see someone gets it out!!
Great changes. Now we are getting somewhere!
I hope you added the function to select output audio device in this version!! It was only a year and a half since you removed it and promised to bring it back...
I agree with @johanneswangdahl Congrats guys, looks like this will be massive.... and great to see Mr. Ek likes synthpop stars La Roux :p
