We are in the process of releasing Spotify 0.3.15 with a more varied home view. It includes a more-button that can be used for finding more of the music that’s been recently added to Spotify. We also added a French language translation to Spotify which is the third language now available. To change the language go to the preferences menu and save the new settings.

We have previously covered the advanced searches you can do in Spotify. Today, we launched another one (that I know that many of you have been longing for): label search.
Searching for a label is easy; just type “label:” before the label name in the search box. An example would be label:warp. If the label you’re searching for contains a space, you must enclose it in quotation marks, like in label:”rough trade”.
And while you’re at it, you can of course combine this search with other types of searches. You could for example search for all My Morning Jacket music released on Rough Trade.
We’ve also published a full list of the labels you can search for since there are quite a few of them and you might not always know which ones to look for. The search result you get back contains both tracks, artists and albums by the label.

Two excellent new features, nice one! I've already discovered a couple of new releases I'd missed using: spotify:search:label%3a%22out+of+line%22+year%3a2009
that's great. one little issue: it seems the quotes are *required*, which seems unintuitive. [label:ECM] gives no results, where [label:"ECM"] yields 8075 tracks. while i'm about it, it'd be nice (and compatible with a certain search engine) if the search syntax allowed a space after the colon as is conventional in english text. currently, [label: "ECM"] gets nothing.
@rogpeppe: The quotes are not required. But during the first minutes after release, one of our search servers would refuse to return any results for label searches. This was quickly fixed, but your label:ECM search must have been directed to the faulty server.
That is amazing! I just read about the suggestion of label search and digged the idea and poof! here comes the update :D.....thx :)
I have to keep saying this... please can we get some kind of notification in the application itself that it's updating. When it asks me for my keychain password because it's updated, but I've never seen the update happen...? C'mon.
yesyesyes! this is fantastic news. thank you :-).. The next big step would be a smarter playlist management (e.g. folders)..
Label search is a really great addition, thanks for that. This next step would be cool: search:dateadded:01.04.2009-30.04.2009 (in combination with other search options of course)
And other language too, no ? I see the soft now in french :)
djiock - You're right. We forgot that in the post and will update it.
hope you have fixed the playlist bugs too!
The label search function is grrrrrrreat!
This makes me happy! Thank you!
Very nice ! Just a question, when will the Enlarge this playlist feature (with Echo Nest) be available in Europe ?
Excellent feature!
argh, when I think I spent the last 3 weeks to compile discs label by label :D Anyway, absolute must have fonction, thanks a lot !
Awesome! Discovered a new Nightmares on Wax album searching the Warp label :D
Why are the updates forced upon us? I dont feel to comfortable with software being installed or changed on my computer without any notice.
(Sorry, I confused the message and wrote this message in another entry.) Congratulations on the changes. What it would take now is that it could search for songs by language. Thus, we could find songs in a certain genre, style and language. I hope we can do something about it. Greetings.
@magnus: interesting. [label:ECM] still brings up 0 tracks, but the search with other labels and no quotes does work. perhaps the spotify application has cached my search result. is there some way to get the full list of artists, albums or tracks from the search results? the results only give 300 tracks, 23 artists and 10 albums, (out of 8075, 347 and 911 respectively) and there there seems no way of viewing the rest...
Nice addition, but when I search for label:Jazzland or label:"Jazzland Recordings" I only get one hit ("Home/Beady Bellle")? Or am I missing something obvious? An album like the sampler "Jazzland Community" or any Bugge Wesseltoft album does not show up using the label search.
First: Spotify is totally ewesome!!!! Second: Nice addition! And third: Any poosibility of getting Finnish labels Spinefarm and its underlable Spike farm and Finnish indie lable Fullsteam to Spotify?
Same as acecast, label search gives me very limited results. I tried to search several Latvian labels -- 'label:"Mikrofona ieraksti"', 'label:"Platforma Records"', 'label:"Baltic Records"'. In all three cases search returns about two albums although I know there is much more...
I couldn't care less about label search.
Nice feature ! And now Spotify is french ! Hey, and if you could add more Alternative Tentacles, Ipecac Records, The End Records, Rotten Records... that would be cool ! ^^ I really love Spotify !!!
hay guys dont no if ya seen it but www.recordspotify.com shows ya how to record from spotify :D
Nice! But label:Labrador is still annoyingly empty, especially since they keep some of the best pop music around ;-)
Nice! Though label:"cd baby" doesn't come up with anything.
Great update. I was very pleased to find the interface fully translated in French. Great job, keep going that way, you'll have great success (Keep it simple and lightweight ;) )
Awesome!! But my current location keeps popping to France - sure would be nice to be there though :-) Faulty-server-fix-bug?
This is something I really wanted. Perhaps you'll be able to add a genre search. And I'd like to see that you add a fixed position to the "New Playlist" on the top in the "save to"-menu. It's getting annoying to have scroll down through 60+ playlists.
jai
long live spotify! :)
http://www.simply-land.com is a great website !!!
Good idea, but doesn't work with lots of labels. Another idea would be to make the label next to the © of each album clickable.
little help how do i do a 10 year seach?
Loving the service but why would people who already use spotify want to hear about other people using spotify? its anoying!
Is there a way you can do "like: prodigy" ? This would return artists similar to prodigy ?
Stupid Question: What's a label?
yeeah and i think in the next spotify version you should be able to get the music onto your ipod?? is there any way possible for this?
Sublime!
because exit much publicit..?
Yeah its great but boy are you spamming the crap out of us with adverts for it, its like every second track or something, w a y too much. Yesterday, it played the advert for label search twice, back to back. I GET IT =I CAN TYPE LABEL: WOW. I get that the adverts pay for the music, fair enough, fair trade. But irritating me into buying a premium account isn't going to work, I'll just go to another platform.
great idea
why do you stream an audio ad for that?! it's just bothering and i don't see how it could get you some cash...
Seriously, who cares about labels? Sure they did matter in the 80s and early 90s. Nowadays they're just a big fat tax. I care about great music and couldn't care less about their label. I do feel sorry for you guys for having to deal with these guys.
Hay version de la web de Spotify en español?
It would be nice if there was an option to show the label in song listings. Also, "Asthmatic Kitty" yields no results. I don't know if this is the same with other small labels. If a label is spelt wrong, no suggestions are given, which is awkward.
does it include free acount too?
Ok this new thing is reallygood, but what i miss is some kind of forum or mail adress where you can report mistakes spotify has done. Like mixing diffrent artists under the same name. 1 case is when there are 2 different artist named Agnes. When you search her whole name Agnes Carlsson you find her old songs but her new songs appears on agnes together with some other agnes! Really annoying! So if you start some kind of forum for us to report mistakes it would be great! otherwise Spotify rocks!
