Introducing Spotify for your Windows Phone 7

Introducing Spotify on Windows Phone 7

Hello Windows Phone 7 users. Like some good news? Our new Windows Phone 7 app launches today!

By a delightful coincidence, Windows Phone 7 is our seventh mobile app. Created with our friends at Microsoft, this app will give you an outstanding music experience on your Windows Phone 7.

Spotify is now available for a wide range of Windows Phone 7 devices. In fact, we’ve now got an app for more mobile devices than any other music service.

Here are some of the brilliant features of our Windows Phone 7 app:

  • Search, browse & play our catalogue of millions of tracks
  • Explore & play your friends’ playlists, top artists and tracks
  • Stream over WiFi or 2.5/3G - all your existing playlists are available
  • Offline playlists - play your music without an internet connection
  • On-the-fly sync - every track you add to a playlist appears on mobile and computer
  • What’s New view
  • Receive music from friends via the inbox
  • Starred tracks - tag all your favourites into a special list

As with all of our mobile apps, a Premium subscription is required to stream from our music library.

To start enjoying Spotify on your Windows Phone 7, just head over to the Marketplace.

Enjoy the music!

So guys, you mentioned on May 6th that you're working on an iPad app. Any news, please?

Please for once just be happy with what you're getting ;)

Install fails and an email is sent by Microsoft (below). The link in the email doesn't work and attempts to 'reinstall' do not work. The app cannot be found in Zune Marketplace or through my phones Marketplace either. Is it available in the UK? Thanks for requesting Spotify from the Windows Phone Marketplace! Here's how to download and install this application: Clicking the link below will take you to the details for the application inside Marketplace. zune://navigate/?phoneappID=ca8d6603-a9ae-4a05-8643-baad091ecdd1 When prompted, press the 'Install' button. Your application will begin downloading. Once the download is complete, you can find your application in the applications list. Enjoy the applications and thanks again for visiting the Windows Phone Marketplace! Microsoft respects your privacy. It's currently only showing up in the US marketplace. When will it come to the UK and Finnish marketplaces?

yea it's pretty lame there is still no ipad app

Finally! Really been looking forward to this!

Thought it wasn't in the NL marketplace yet, but using the link in the text above and then using the "Check my Marketplace" button it seems it is. Downloading now...

Oh yes, forgot mobile streaming needs premium account. Oh well...

Finally! but I'm getting an "Unknown error (126)" every time I try to log in :'(

My god, is great. Thanks you spotify:) The spotify app can be found in the danish marketplace. I have 2 questions: Streaming quality: is it 320 kbps at high level or only 192 kbps? No last.fm in the setting? Anders:)

I'm getting an error while trying to log in, "Unknown Error (126)". Doesn't look like it even tries to connect either as it appears just as I press sign in. Anyone else having this issue? It doesn't help much if the error is unknown either.

The playback is awful, the songs are synced through wireless and they skip and stutter constantly when the app is in the background or the phone is locked.

The links from spotify dosen't open ind IE9 on the wp7. spotify:track:3smp3G9gLmgJ7wtrxzgFwd http://open.spotify.com/track/3smp3G9gLmgJ7wtrxzgFwd

pretty cool guys!

Simply amazning application. Works fluently for me. Great works, guys!

Thumbs up from me.. :)

Installed (from UK Marketplace) and up and running on my HTC HD7....works a treat! - Thanks Spotify :)

Hmm i have been playing with that and was expecting to see "would you like to buy a single day account" when i tried the offline mode. However no warnings were given and i have been charged it seems. This is not a great was forward.

ok looks like a free three day trial I was looking at a charge from 2009... DOH... Sorry..

I'm getting the error 126 as well. Kind of sucks as I've been looking forward to having it up and running on my phone for quite a while now.

finaly! thank you tons for this. Now we only want a PS3 version :)

Nice to see the app (finally... ) in the marketplace. I am on the "unlimited" plan, and i am aware of the fact that you need "premium" to use the app. However, i can´t see any reason that i am not able to log in on the app, manage my account with my unlimited account - and demo the app, as an already paying customer? Almost every app in the WP7 marketplace has a free (limited) downloadable "trial". This would also make it much easier for the customers to upgrade their accounts directly through the app after downloading and try it out on the phone, and serioulsy - i find it amazing that this business opportunity has been left out by spotify... Until i can demo the app on the phone myself on a time limit (as you can with the free alternative on computer), or there is som kind of trial/restricted access for unlimited subscribers, i will stick with my unlimited account.

any chance to get it available on the Italian marketplace? despite i've been living in sweden for the last 3 years, i needed to create an italian live account in order to use WP7.

Thanks, the first impression is that it looks good. However, last.fm scrobbling is missing from this app.

Thanks alot, have been waiting for this!

I've been looking forward to this since it was previewed in April, mainly because all your other apps have last.fm scrobbling. So to hear staaleaf say it doesn't is a bit anti-climatic. I'll be looking forward to upgrading to Premium when this feature is rolled out in an update. Btw it looks really good :).

what about also publishing the app in the german marketplace? I always travel arround but my "homestore" is germany, so I cannot install the spotify-app. By the way, changing the country of the marketplace is not possible.

Thanks! Have been searching Spotify from Marketplace every other day for a month so I really was waiting for this :) I too would have appreciated last.fm scrobbling though...

Spotilove! :D

Nicely done, although I to miss the "scrobble to last.fm" option :(

Took you long enough :P Seriously though, I feel like I have an actual smart phone now, much

I can't see my local files on my phone i spotify? The playlist I made from local files on my computer are empty in the spotify app? Anders:)

Nice work! Two questions though: - It seems seek isn't working: long taping on next/previous buttons does nothing (neither in Spotify nor on LockScreen controls) - It seems there's no way to choose a name when creating playlists Keep up the good work!

Thanks a million, looking great and like someone else said, now I finally got a smart phone. One thing though, PLAY/PAUSE/STEP FWD/STEP REV does unfortunately not work with my bluetooth headset (wich Zune does), any suggestions?

great! Now I can consider moving to spotify premium!

It's not possible to jump in a track. I also have problem with my playlist and offline mode. I can't get Spotify to retrieve numbered in offline mode. I'm on a HTC Titan. Anders:)

Correction: offline mode works sometimes, but is not very constant on HTC Titan.

Works fine on Samsung Omnia 7 through the Finnish Marketplace. Cheers!

I cannot find the app in Marketplace. What's the reason for that? On the main page of Marketplace it's displayed, together with the sentence "Sorry, we cant find this app in Marketplace. ............. ?

Really nice app, cool design very beatiful. I run the app on my HTC Titan. But a few pointers I have noticed. I cant control the spotify app with my bluethoot devices such my MW600 or in the car. The Zune app can handle this! And this was also possible when i run the spotify app on my iPhone. Another thing is the "Whats New" section... I only see listed albums. But I like to play the tracks on the "Top list" feature under the "Whats new" section instead. Or is this something i've missed?

It does not stream (or even sync) over 3G connection at all. (Everything works until you try to play a song). Also losts my offline lists sometimes. Using LG Optimus 7 with Mango update. Rocking Spotify premium. Oh, and i cant control it from desktop.

That's all fine and dandy, but why doesn't the android app have folder-support?

This is great news, but I am geting numerous errors when I try and log in: Unknown Error (4) Unknown Error (126) Unknown Error (117) both when trying to login directly and with my facebook credentials.

I am having issues with offline mode - I will download playlists to my device but once I quite Spotify it no longer has those playlists downloaded and available offline. This has occured on both a Dell Venue Pro and a HTC Radar - both running WP 7.5. I am sure a solution is in the works, but just wanted to raise the issue here.

@maxwhiteford I figured the Unknown Error (126) error is because it can't connect to the 3G internet connection. I'm guessing you're roaming? I'm roaming too, and spotify won't connect when I'm not on a Wi-Fi hotspot whatsoever. Did you try to connect through Wi-Fi? I reported this to Spotify, and they said they're going to find out what's causing this roaming issue asap. @blaircook I have this issue too with my HTC 7 Mozart. I sent a query about it. Hopefully they will have an answer.

@sparx1337: I'm not roaming, I was getting this error over 3G, over Wifi and when connected via USB. However, I can now login and listen to music, so maybe this was a temporary issue. On a seperate point, I'm now set a number of playlists to be available offline. To investigate how these were being synced, I set "Sync over 3G" to off, turned off WIFI and disconnected via USB (leaving 3G as my only data connection). In spite of this the playlists continued to sync, which presumably they were doing over 3G. This is not ideal as it's eating in to my data allowance.

About time. lol

Ipad app soon or I'm gonna switch to Rdio.

Add Last.fm scrobbling.
