Spotify is delighted to announce the launch of its music service on TVs across Sweden and Finland as of today.
In partnership with Nordic telecommunications giant TeliaSonera, Spotify is making the music app available to Telia’s 120,000 digital TV customers.
The TV app will be available to TeliaSonera customers who have subscribed to the Spotify Premium service, giving them access to a streamlined version of the music application that can be used to access Spotify playlists on the TV screen via the TeliaSonera remote control.
The move marks a major step forward in Spotify’s evolution as we continue our aim of making music available wherever you are, whenever you need it. Last year Spotify launched its mobile app on the iPhone, Android and Symbian smartphone platforms.
“Introducing Spotify into the living room is a major step forward in our continued efforts to make Spotify available wherever you are”, says Daniel Ek, CEO and founder of Spotify.
Stefan Trampus, manager broadband services at TeliaSonera, adds: “Everybody loves music and even though many of us carry our favourite music with us, a lot of music consumption remains in the home. We believe that giving music fans the ability access Spotify directly through the TV and into the living room will attract even more users to the world’s hottest music service.”
Last October, TeliaSonera signed a deal with Spotify to become the exclusive operator in Sweden to sell, market and assist in the development of Spotify.
