Iedereen die zich aanmeldt bij Spotify krijgt een Spotify account. Je afspeellijsten en overige informatie worden bij dit account opgeslagen. Je hebt toegang tot je account in Spotify op elke computer of elk ander apparaat waarop je de Spotify applicatie hebt geïnstalleerd. Door in te loggen op de Spotify website kun je ook toegang krijgen tot de profieldetails van je account.
Je kan elk moment een abonnement (Spotify Unlimited of Spotify Premium) toevoegen aan je Spotify account. Hiermee kun je gebruik maken van de voordelen van deze diensten.
Als je het abonnement beëindigt zal het abonnement op de eerstvolgende verlengingsdatum aflopen. Hierdoor verlies je echter niet de toegang tot je Spotify account of je afspeellijsten. Je kan nog steeds inloggen in je account en gebruik maken van de gratis versie van Spotify, tot je je opnieuw abonneert.
