Music catalogue updated with 72,728 tracks

This update went live on Saturday morning but I haven’t had a chance to post it until now. We added 5,741 albums and singles to the catalogue, in total 72,728 new tracks are now available.

I also wanted to let you know that updates to our catalogue are not as frequent as they usually are as we’re having some technical issues adding new music. We’re working hard to get back to our regular schedule of updates and bring you lots of great new releases and I’ll be sure to post as soon as the next update is available.

A few highlights includes:

Have a look at the Google doc for the full listing of all the releases. As with every update not all albums listed may be available in your country and some tracks previously available may no longer be playable due to regional restrictions.

Let us know what gems you find in this update.

Good to see Them Crooked Vultures, but when will Devin Townsend's Addicted be available ? This is the first CD I had to buy since subscribing to Spotify Premium...

Good job guys / gals. The new Casting Crowns album is there :D Excellent. Mike

Echo the sentiments about TCV finally showing up.. Would like to see Biffy Clyro's "Only Revolutions" on spotify too - it's been out for more than 2 weeks now. On this note, why aren't new releases put on spotify on the day of release as they are with Napster for example? It's the only thing that's keeping me subscribed to Napster at the moment!

Great update! The club music highlights will be up on areyouspotified.com/clubified soon and you know it!

Hurray! New Annie album. Hope it will be available in Norway soon...

Nice, both lillasyster and some more Kent!

C'mon, where's Beatles, Metallica and Donnie Darko's "Mad World". Those are some really great and loved bands and songs, please add them or make it possible for us to add them, which you wont do.

and Flight of the Conchords still didn't make it back in for France. :-(

Doom unit please

Great update but some of the new stuff doesn't seem to work. Missing artwork and error messages are all I get, nothing plays. First spotted it on the N-Dubz new album just uploaded.

Thanks for OneRepublic !!

Oh That's great how about making cheryl coles album free and adding rihana's new album AND Lady gaga's AND Adam lamberts :) .. Just a suggestion

I want Annie too, for Sweden. And the live thing with Fever Ray!

Tool for sweden!

well, I had the displeasure to notice something like...40 discs disappeared from my playlists these 2 last weeks, so pardon me if I'm not that enthusiastic about your "update"... I know the song "it's the label/artists fault" by heart, but now what I'd really like to hear if you intend to find a way with the labels to get rid of that lottery effect. one month you're listening to an album/label, pop, next month (or 6 months -or forever?- as the subpop case tends to show...) the label vanishes and you're back to cds. which is all the more annoying when it affects your paying users. list of some recent victims : .Ocasek "cinematic 96-97" http://open.spotify.com/album/65jiDNIvR485gGYFuH37z8 .Hush arbors "Hush Arbors" http://open.spotify.com/album/7nEgbgaqe1RtYMUG14zLpr .Hush arbors "under bent limb trees" http://open.spotify.com/album/0h1IdqiQA57RC8aFtMl81X .V/A "5 years of hyperdub" http://open.spotify.com/album/6a6PyGv5ZB1kR8QPV5aLHy .Burial "burial" http://open.spotify.com/album/4CrmyDlZwq8XfffwgpJK2A .Burial "untrue"http://open.spotify.com/album/4EIUWgEGuue5krjlOSjei2 ...and basically the whole hyperdub catalog ! http://open.spotify.com/user/gondwana/playlist/0nnNMB4TrmUcdPHRzEmd9h it affects even techno now too, half of the Drag n Drop label catalog previously available on spotify has vanished : http://open.spotify.com/user/gondwana/playlist/20c6lCl22kZYM5XXMVGtdA and it affects rock too, see what happened to "The little killers" 1st album http://open.spotify.com/artist/6cmNzSaJnjoD3yF6WgznrK (it seems the whole crypt records vanished eventually, although I'm not that familiar with the label) and I could go on for long but you get my point by now I guess... Bye premium...

@lmsampson Cheryl Cole - 3 Words? -> http://open.spotify.com/album/3ao7El5qj953dxb01PBhPG

How can the new Deadmau5 album "For lack of a better name" be in this update? It's been on Spotify for about a month already!?

Good work ! Adding Tactical Sekt's albums would be awesome :) <3 Syncope I bought this album a few years ago but having it on Spotify would be very nice (or add a feature to allow us to use Spotify as a local music player :p)

plis plis cuando subireis los cds nuevos del canto del loco...radio colifata y por ti y por todos mis compañeros

More "Red Hot Chili Peppers" Please

Was pleased to see FF/VinterNoll2 by Kent, but sadly it's not available in Norway. Stupid record labels!

I would just like to point out that there is a mixup with some albums. There happens to exist more than one band in the world with the name "Blue". I think that under the artist page for "Blue" there are actually albums from 3 different bands, I know for sure that there are albums from 2 different bands. The album "Blue" by "Blue" is by a Scottish band, and I guess the same goes for the albums: "20", "Another Night Time Flight", "Country Blue" and "The L.A. Sessions". I would appreciate this being fixed so that I won't have some good rock music mixed up with some boy band music.

Why do you need to tell us about updates all the time? I don't mean to be rude but it's a justified question. There's a What's new? tab in Spotify.

@b255108 - A lot of people like to read the full list, earlier in the year we didn't do it and a lot of people asked for it so unless there's a big desire to stop them we'll keep it up.

my previous comment is awaiting moderation since ... yesterday, hope it has nothing to do with my mention of the big deletions happening these days...

@gondwana I can only agree. I've only had 1 album disapear (for what I know of) but still. Wondering if this is going to be a standard routine that spotify rights to the music changes. I lost this album this weak: Passion Pit - Manners http://open.spotify.com/album/1ooLVHhUYstvazUoOtUPSn @Spotify crew These updates are getting much more rare and there is still alot of music missing in spotify. What's your prospects atm? There's technical difficulties with the app to. On my pc the music freezes every know and then and I need to change track or restart the app to get it up to speed again. Also, my iPhone app is closing every know and then when I try to browse through my playlists. You need to get it working more smovily if I you're keen on keeping me paying 99/month for your services.

@tengans That's just antother thing that Spotify needs to fix. Quite often you come across 3-4-5 different artists on the same artistpage and that's just not doing the trick. They should split them up into sub-artistpages so that blue artistpage is just a landingpage with links to - Blue (USA, POP) - Blue (Somewhere, Rock) And so on... @b255108 Well, to be honest the "what's new" tab is quite bad. It's just constantly showing the same 40-50 albums. Would be great with some functionality that shows new music relevant to your interest and more then 40-50 different one's. I know it's already showing like 60-70% of what should be music relevant to my interests but atm the "similiar artists" functionality is not that good and far from Last.fm's high class recomendations and ability to finding artists of the same sound/gengre. Probably should mention that I am a Spotify admirer and thinks this is the way to go. Just think there's room for improvement on several fronts to get it working "properly".

Them Crooked Vultures!!! Though Im still waiting for Man or Astro-man?

STOP REMOVING ALBUMS! Now it's the new Katatonia.

Night is the New Day by Katatonia is gone! Bring it back!

I need the album "Overcome" by "All that remains" Some older albums are available but not this, why? :(

As always it's the labels that decides how streaming access is controlled. If you like your favorite band to be on Spotify, _stop_ whining about in these blog comment fields and mail them directly! I mailed hyperdub the second I was made aware that almost all their catalog was pulled. (thanks gondwana) hyperdub.inc@gmail.com I'm not expecting a reply but they need to know they are getting badwill from up here. And it's not that hard! eg. Katatonia. 1) http://katatonia.com/ in webbrowser 2) click "interact" -> http://katatonia.com/interact/ 3) pick something businessylooking -> Management: andy@northernmusic.co.uk 4) formulate a mail venting the disappointment (remember that hard words are less effective) 5) press send

@gondwana "my previous comment is awaiting moderation since yesterday, hope it has nothing to do with my mention of the big deletions happening these days" I guess it has something to do with posting urls that requires moderation. My previous comment was refering to another of my comments (So much for not getting an swift reply) which are still awaiting moderation where I said i had mailed Hyperdub. Only difference is the first had urls.

But the main issue, that i forgot to bring up, is a comment in the response from Hyperdub. "we were put on there without permission" Can I get an official statement from Spotify on this. Are there misunderstandings/bureaucracy obscuring things here or else: wtf? Are there still music on Spotify not properly cleared!?!?!

death's album the sound of perseverance is gone :( spotify should stop removing albums, it's dissappointing. http://open.spotify.com/album/6Z8y3F6ckzqzDWm0f2vYyX

@mnsc - Hyperdub uses an aggregator to distribute their music digitally. It appears the aggregator did not have their permission to send the music to us. As soon as we found this out we removed the music. It's not uncommon that mistakes happen considering the hundreds of thousands of labels/artists involved but we try and act as swiftly as possible.

so, "Hyperdub uses an aggregator to distribute their music digitally", but they don't want to be distributed digitally... Intense headscratch ;-)

mmh, nevermind last post, I forgot you can buy hyperdub releases as digital on boomkat etc, I guess it's only the "streaming" part that doesn't please the boss...

@andres So you blame it on the bureaucracy then. I'm starting to get really bored/fed up with the over managment of rights going on in this day and age. And I also have to call bullshit on Hyperdubs "we're not about money". I can't see another reason than money calculations for selling mp3s vs. streaming. Eg. I went to boomkat and bought "KODE 9 & THE SPACE APE - Konfusion", guess what I got. Two mp3-files @320kbps and the coverart. EXACTLY what I get when I stream from Spotify. Difference is: when I double click on the mp3-file, I don't see the coverart because my player at work doesn't support coverart in a seperate cover.jpg-file. In sweden we have a saying about pooping in ones own hand. I guess Hyperdub love the warm cozy feeling of "control".

Konfusion is actually one of the few releases still on Spotify.

I miss the new Transatlantic album The Whirlwhind..

Would be nice to get some more of Joseph Arthur's music.

I miss Turisas, add them!:D

Rihanna-Rated R, when will it come?
