Another new music update now live on Spotify.

Today we updated the Spotify music catalogue with over 10,000 new albums being added. There are some great new releases like the latest from Animal Collective and Antony & The Johnsons as well all sorts of older albums in every genre imaginable.

We’ve been asked many times to publish an entire list of the additions we make to the catalogue so I’ve added an Excel file to this post that lists everything in the update. The format may not be the best and some of the names may be a little messy due to the transfer to Excel but we wanted to pass the information on right away, we’ll work on a better way to deliver this information in the future.

The Excel file of albums that we added can be found here.

One small note, due to territorial restrictions a small number of the albums listed will not be available in your country.

Amazing news. Well done. Let us hope that silences those who still don't believe this is a world changing service.

hurrah. looking forward to listening to some of these. lots of excitement about Spotify on our boards http://drownedinsound.com

Hell yeah. Awesome one, guys. :D

"One small note, due to territorial restrictions a small number of the albums listed will not be available in your country." Why :-( ? That sucks!

tsm121 - Unfortunately albums are licensed on a country by country basis and we don't have the rights in each country, it's something that we're actively working with the record labels to get removed.

Great news! And nice one with the rickroll. :)

Thank you so much, great job! I really appreciate your work!

Nice work! And thank you for the excel file.

This looks really promising, hope all the critics show their appreciation as well!! This excel file is extremely appreciated!!! Thanks to you guys, I haven't download a single music file illegally for a couple of months now! Now that's what I call a revolution..! Cheers!

So nice! Animal Collective really compensates a lot of missing artists!

This is great. I'm loving Spotify so much, I don't think I've opened Songbird since installing. I'm listening to the new Antony and the Johnsons now, which is sort of making up for the fact that Joanna Newsom has disappeared. Any chance she'll be back on any time soon? Either way thanks for making such an amazing service, I'm telling all my friends.

Great news guys! well done

Ooh, Avantasia's Metal Opera pt. II, so now it's only part I that's missing.

Great news! Thanks a lot Spotify Team. Now the work with my blog suddenly got a thousand times easier. :-) http://spotifynews.wordpress.com

amazing, am really liking spotify.. wouldn't it be cool if you could integrate lyrics too?!

Great news! The excel-file is indeed very helpful. I was wondering though if there is a chance to include the record label in the list? When using spotify, the option to search for a specific label is the one thing I really miss. I know the program is still in its beta-phase, but I really hope this will be possible in the future.

wiseup - I updated the file to include Label and Spotify URI. Try downloading it again and you should get it.

Yay, this is very nicely done! Länge leve Spotify! :D

Thx a lot Andres! Will excel-files be released continuously from now on or is it just meant to silence the critics?

saravajase - The plan is to continue releasing the music we add. Whether it's an excel file or we figure out some better way to do it has yet to be determined.

Hey - Brainlove Spotify mixtape up now! Find the link on my blog - http://www.brainlove.co.uk/

Keep on going Spotify! Good work!

In the future it would be really nice to get a customized list for each country. Thanks.

horray, all the german audiobooks for kids like die drei ???,fuenf freunde, tkkg. cool! but not available in germany (cant find it)? a lot of clueso was added as well! now each time you release a list of added songs, the users will think, that they just got much more for the money they paid and will be even more happy. good job. jo

Lot Of Artist i Love have disappeared but i own every album from these , i use spotify to find new music and no songs on my wishlist are gone that's good... Thanks (I see You add the new Frusciante too EXCELLENT ) GG

Keep the good work up, still no Madness or Smiths, Gene Pitney and a few Roy Orbison songs but I know it's only a matter of time before you get these

Thank you very much for the excel-file! :)

Andres, thanks for listening to user feedback and provide a file with updates!

Excellent! In the future it would be great to be able to subscribe to new additions by artist, whether they are already on Spotify or not. That'd be a great way to know when music by one's favourite artists is added. Maybe this could even be in the player itself somehow? Like the way iTunes notifies of songs that are available for upgrade to versions without DRM protection.

Is there any possibility that you guys could give us an excel file with the songs that were/are about to be deleted? That would be really interesting to know :)

Thanks for the list! And thanks for listening!

Great, Spotify FTW!!! :) Haven't illegally downloaded a single track since i got this, never used iTunes for downloads anyway. iPhone app?!?!?!

I just send almost all my invites. your service just rocks.

This is really appreciated. I'm heartened to see more Fennesz, Akira Rabelais, Ikue Mori and others. I'm looking forward to further expansion in the future.

I dunno if this is the proper channel but the problem report is messy and I just quitted trying using it The year appearing as the album release is in fact year of the (last?) album re-edition. I would really like it to be the year of the actual first edition. As an example, the rolling stones' beggars banquet appears as edited in 2008 when it was originally edited in 1968 The original release date is a very good filter for selecting which disk you want to hear. For example I'm not interested at all in the rolling stones after the 70's It is not properly a bug report since it is half a way to "share an idea", but imho it is a design flaw and should be marked as so as an addition it totally screws the radio :(

For those without Excel (even though the file was a simple tab-separated file viewable by everyone with a text editor), I made a Google Document out of it. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=ppETFg1sp1HZFJ3s_-Q4LbQ

Hopefully this blog message gets more than 500 comments too like the other one, but filled with thankful output this time! Many many thanks to Spotify and Andres for keeping us in the loop, great service...

calpurnio, I work for the Spotify content/metadata team. It's our goal to always use the date of the original release if available. Problem is, record companies give us the release date of the exact product (may it be a remastering or re-release) that they're giving us. We try to enhance our data using http://www.allmusic.com/ and http://www.musicbrainz.org/, but matching to their data is kind of hard (especially since re-relases may include additional tracks and so on). Rest assured that we're working on it, though.

Frenzal Rhomb added, yay! Frenzal Rhomb not available in Sweden, boo! Dave Matthews added, yay! Dave Matthews not available in Sweden, boo! Danko Jones added, yay! Danko Jones not available in Sweden, boo! At least Atryeu is available from Sweden -- but not with the album hash from the excel file. It's nice to see what was added though -- please keep that coming one way or another. Also, I'd like to ask the fairy god mother if you could get some artists from Suburban Noize and Fat Wreck Chords next week ;) And make sure it's available from Sweden.

Good comeback. Everytime you release news that you are cutting away albums you need to be prepared to counter that with releases of new. However be careful of backfire and be 100% honest in all communication. For ex. do not write "with over 10,000 new albums being added" when most are singles and explain the extent of the territorial restrictions since you say they "will" effect us normal users. Good luck we are counting on you not to bungle this...

Hey I'm french, thanks for all, now it makes a long time i was hoping for such a software. I'm just waiting for a french version of it,^^ And the come back of the album "Fight Club"

Excellent work! And thanks for the excel file. Nice move. Could probably be done in some better way in the future it its still much appreciated.

thank you for the list! great news! Danko hear i come! :-)

This is a nice idea but I dont have Excel on my computer :-( Is it possible for you to publish this information in pdf-format instead? Thanks for a great application.

@frebeswe: Check a few posts up and you will find a solution. "Comment by expeditionen, 2009-02-02 18:27"

I'm really pleased to have the information in the Excel list. Any chance of sorting by genre, even if just Rock/Jazz/Classical etc? Thanks.

Hi. Great list! For all of you that don´t have Excel: Install Open Office!!! It´s free and can open Excel-files. A Question to you on Spootify: Why is´nt Thåströms album "Skebokvarnsv. 209" availible? All of he´s other albums are there.!?.!?.!?.!?.

Very good job, guys! I felt quite disappointed last week when I realized most of the music I listen to in Spotify disappeared. Mostly electronic music such as stuff from Warp, Kompakt, etc. It was a shock. However, you actually seem to listen to your customers and it was great to see so many good additions on the last Excel file, including non-mainstream electronic music artists. Keep up the good work! Finally, I have two questions and one suggestion :) - Could you give us an estimate about when the Warp (and Kompakt) catalogue will be back? - Why is it sometimes difficult to find the latest singles / albums from electronic music artists? (sometimes I will find stuff up to 2006 or 2007 but not the newest singles) And the suggestion is the following: - It would be great to be able to search for music looking for the record company. This would be especially gratifying for electronic music to find similar artists, etc. Thanks for your efforts and for listening to your cutomers! :)

I decided to support and bought premium, just now, even before I read this. AC! KTL! Fennesz!
