How much music can I play with Spotify Free?

When you create your Spotify account, for the first six months, you will have unlimited streaming with Spotify Free. After these first six months some limitations apply.

How much music you can stream

Starting with 10 hours, your account will then receive a 2.5 hour streaming allocation each week. Any time that you do not use in that week is saved up. Your streaming time can be saved up in this way to a total of 10 hours.

Streaming time is added to your account each week, on the same day of the week that you created your Spotify account, and at approximately the same time of day.

Unlimited Local music play

Naturally, there is no limitation on how much you can play your own music files that you have imported into Spotify. The limitation only applies to music streamed from Spotify. When you play your own files your streaming time allocation is not affected.

We believe that, even if you do not wish to subscribe at the moment, you will still be able to make great use of Spotify. You can import your existing music library into the desktop application and sync your files to the mobile apps or to your iPod. We hope that the free streaming time will give you a great opportunity to share and discover new music online. Spotify will offer you a music player that keeps your music options wide open.

Spotify Premium and Spotify Unlimited

Any time you would like to stream without any limitations at all, and without advertising of any kind, you can upgrade your Spotify account with a Spotify Unlimited subscription. If you would like to try the complete Spotify experience, with even higher music quality, offline playlist syncing, and streaming access in Spotify apps on a wide range of mobile devices, you could take your account to Spotify Premium.
