Clarificación: Estas actualizaciones permitirán a todos los usuarios de Spotify transferir sus archivos MP3 del ordenador al iPod, o por medio de WiFi a su iPhone o móvil Android a través de Spotify Mobile.
Si tienes una suscripción a Spotify Premium, podrás también buscar, reproducir y hacer listas offline con música de todo nuestro catálogo en tu móvil.
Sin embargo, aunque tengas Premium, no es posible sincronizar listas en Modo Offline en el iPod.

@jonnalex Premium is still the only way to get music that you don't own to your mobile devices. This new free addition is just for MP3s people have bought.
So this means that Spotify Free/Open users can only use the mobile app for MP3s they own or purchase thru Spotify, right? They still can't sync anything they don't own? Also, the iPod integration seems nice, but it has the same limitation, correct? Meaning, if I create a playlist that ONLY contains songs in Spotify's library, but not my local MP3s, then it can only be synched to my iPod if I purchase all the songs in the playlist, right?
I'd like to know where did the import music from iPod option go. Since the last update, I can't play local files from Spotify. The list (Local Files) still appears, but it has only 5 songs and there's no possible way to import the rest of the library.

dan_klimuk: Correct, that's how it works. francesmeiwes: You mean the "iPod integration" feature of the iPhone app? It didn't work very well so we had to take it out. I guess if a lot of people really want it we could rewrite it, but once you get the new win/mac app, do try out syncing your tracks to your iPhone using Spotify only; it's wireless and works great!
@dan_klimuk: Free and Open users can use our mobile app for all MP3s they would like to sync, both songs bought in Spotify and songs on their computer that they've purchased from before. If you're missing MP3s in your Spotify playlist that you would like to sync to your iPod you can easily complete it by purchasing missing songs in one easy step in Spotify, before syncing.

Thanks for the replies. I'm a Premium member, so this news doesn't really affect me, but I really like the concept of the added iPod integration, and I'll play with it once I get the software update. Just get those 10-minute-or-longer UMG songs into the library, and I'm a totally happy customer again. :)
A few minutes ago, TechCrunch published their article on this, and I rechecked Spotify.com to see the new ad for this new update. Downloading now ;)
are you really sure about this 10-h limit for the free users? do a search for "marketing mistakes" on amazon. just saying..

I agree that the Premium user service is being eroded and additional features need to be added or current restrictions removed. The main problem I have, as a premium user, is the restrictions placed on simultaneous use to a limited number of devices. Currently, our family of 4 access Spotify via 3 iMacs, 1 MacBook Air, 1 PC, 3 IPhones, 1 iPod touch, 1 iPad and 2 separate Sonos systems. Clearly we cannot access music from Spotify on all of these devices all of the time, but need them at various times, particularly if we are travelling. Limiting offline access to 3 devices means constantly juggling which device to use and endless re-syncing devices when the limit of 3 has been exceeded. The procedure for adding local files to devices is also extremely arduous and frustrating (when compared to using iTunes, for example). When the Premium service offered premium features, this might have been acceptable, but as Spotify erodes the Premium service by introducing premium features to the free service, this needs to be addressed urgently. With the introduction of Cloud services from Apple on the horizon, Spotify needs to improve the features for Premium users, if it is to hold on to it's user base.
Great so I can sync mp3s i already have in iTunes?? Nah doesn't change anything. See iTunes also does movies, tv shows and even apps, oh wait that doesn't matter because spotify only does iPods. You're reallllyyy going to beat iTunes.
I think this is an interesting update, congratulations. As a premium user, personally I don't see the point buying music that I already can stream anywhere anytime from Spotify (even store as offline playlist). Spotify has done a great job blurring the concept of music ownership. What I really want to buy is music that Spotify doesn't have yet, say, Radiohead's In Rainbows(last time I checked, it's available in 7digital's store), and I hope I can buy them inside the Spotify client, and stream them from Spotify. That would be much more useful IMO.
The bad thing Spotify did is to announce and turn on the limitations before this update, now they should see what Spotify can offer if they just can afford the little penny! 99 SEK it's a dream! If they announced and turned on the limitations after this update, then I believe the amount of annoyed and complaining user had been much smaller. Anyway, come back and see what Spotify can offer you for the little penny! There is nothing such free lunch. Wake up!
I really, really love Spotify and I've been a Premium subscriber since the day I knew about it. I think that cloudbased music is the future and I want to have as few CDs and mp3s as possible. While I can on some level understand the changes Spotify is making now and have made lately, I feel like it's getting confusing. At the beginning Spotify was so simple: Play any song you want at any time any place. Now it takes a really long time to understand the different payment options and limitations. Everybody seems to misunderstand something which of course leads to unsatisfaction. I know how difficult the music business is to navigate, but I am worried about Spotify. I so much want you to succeed!
Thanks for the answer. But I just don't see the point. Personally, I don't care where music comes from; obviously the sync is faster if it comes straight from my computer than if it comes from the Internet, but the results are the same: duplicated files, double storage wasted. I mean, let's say that I have an Arcade Fire playlist, a group which is not on your database. I have the full Arcade Fire's discography stored in my computer and in my iPod, and of course when I play this playlist on my computer, files come from my hard drive (not from the Internet), since I have all my music synchronized with Spotify Win/app; however, when I wanna play the same playlist on my iPod, I can't do it from the Internet so I take it from my computer with the new wireless function, and the final result is that I have Arcade Fire's records twice stored on my iPod! Honest, I don't see why you conclude that "iPod integration" gave problems. I didn't get to experience anyone, but probably it's out of my understanding as a user.
I agree with francesmeiwes, isn't the only benefit that this is offering is a cable-less syncing service? What people really want is to be able to store music they have already bought on the cloud, and be able to stream it over 3g to their android/iphone. By implementing this new update, you are moving away from the cloud, which is what spotify had going for it, and the free users didn't move away because they needed to be able to transfer downloaded music onto their handset. Real way to do things? beat Amazon, Google & Apple to it by offering a streaming service of your own music (that you upload at a point in time), and allow people to stream from that.
Thank you Spotify to keep innovating the world of Music, you do it great. Itunes launched the 0.99Euros/track revolution years ago and you just turned Itunes into and old sclerotic firm. I would love to see soon new Premium features by the way !! You do your best and we are grateful for that !
I see that you guys definitely hire some more developers since critical issues are not fixed. I know that the issue I'm going to post doesn't seem that common, but it's fairly critical for heavy Spotify playlist users on Android. I'm paying money for this service and I'm not able to even listen any music on Android at the moment because of this bug. It's been reported 5 months ago and nothing hasn't happened. This is a nice update, but what i am missing is the iPad App for Spotify. When is that coming out? If I get that, then im totally sold on you. I use my iPad 2 everyday to stream music to my stereo through my Airport Express. And not having a "real" Spotify App in the iPad is like waste of resource. You have all that space and power to make a great App ;) Please make it happen ;)
This compensates the only-5-times-play-song limit!

Nice update. But plz give import for flac or wav or alac. So i can play my music in good quality on my music. Got all my music in flac right now, and i dont use spotify becouse you dont have inport for it. If you fix it i will start use spotify.

Spotify says hello to the iPod, but when Spotify says hello to the iPad?
I hope the update comes through soon! Up till today I paid 9.99 for Premium AND had to buy the songs on iTunes to play on my Cowon S9 and Blackberry 9700.. even yesterday I thought it was getting to expensive and wanted to quit premium. I'm so glad you finally let me sync my Spotify playlist as MP3's, premium is worth it again! Now send those updates cause I want to see it happening and how it organises with all the album art :D!!

Is this going to be available on older IPod's as well, other than the Classic, Nano & Shuffle.
@nekrolog: Only local music files, MP3s that you already own or purchase through Spotify, can be synced to and played on the iPod. This has to do with the hardware of the iPod. The Spotify catalogue can only be streamed on the iPod Touch, iPhone or an Andriod device through our Mobile app with a Premium subscription. @rumik: We'll be rolling this out over through an automatic update, gradually over the next few days to ensure technical quality. So keep using Spotify and you'll notice an update in our application soon! @vincentmilliken and others: Watch out for some other new features in the updated desktop client. Well that sucks, why not just use iTunes then. The gap between Premium and Unlimited is getting smaller and smaller it seems like. And it seems like more and more music are disappearing from Spotify. But the thing I (and probably many others) miss the most has to be a very own App for the iPad. I hope you can come up with more exclusive functions for Premium users, as of now I don't think it is worth paying for Premium.
Perfect! I always buy songs from iTunes to improve my collection. iTunes store is a bit pricy so this makes it better. Hope it's good sound quality though.
I'm guessing it's unlikely, but it would be fantastic if this update also made the app Universal so that it ran at native resolution on the iPad. If not, an iPad app at your earliest convenience would be very, very much appreciated. Looking forward to the update.
You guys have gone from one extreme to the other - firt you're annoying the free users because you've cut down all their restrictions - then you've annoyed the premium users because you've rolled out what should be a premium service to none paying users. Like someone said earlier, I feel a little cheated. But only a little. Everything else is all good. What I would like to know is: If you have an album downloaded from iTunes that's not on Spotify, like Arcade Fire, and then you sync your Spotify playlists to your iPod - does this mean that it wipes the Arcade Fire album/iTunes music off your iPod too? Or do you get both? The eaiest way to fix this problem is to get ALL music on Spotify. Fight for it!
Also, whoever said "Spotify won't beat iTunes because iTunes do films and tv and stuff..." .....Spotify is about the music, all about the music
Is the £9.99 a month worth spending for my premium service now that I can get a lot of the mobile features for free?, starting to think it probably is not, maybe better to spend that money in the like of the iTunes store and get a choice of music to keep and put on as many devices as I like and can even go old school and be able to burn a disc, if I wanted to keep a few in the car. Is there any reason I need to pay £120 a year?
I think that most of you guys are not getting the point. You can only sync music that you already own, meaning that is already in your hard drive either legal o illegally downloaded. If you create a list and you want to sync it you need to buy the songs. It's not the same feature as the "Offline" playlist from Spotify Premium, there is such a difference. The whole point of spotify premium is being able to SYNC to your mobile phone music that you dont own.
Still nothing for the iPad? I'm giving up on this serivce, glad I canceled premium a month back now. You obviously don't care for your users. By this time I could have made 10 iPad apps for Spotify since iPad was released, yet it seems too hard for an entire company of developers.
I'm leaving Spotify Premium soon, and going back to Winamp, because you still can't crossfade songs, even when you pay ten pounds a month.
