A new Spotify Desktop Version is rolling out with some awesome new features! Check out our blog for all the details: http://t.co/rWM8Kj3g

Last week we told you that we’d submitted a new version of our iPhone app to Apple for approval. The approval process has been super quick and today we’re happy to announce that the update is now available in the app store.
What’s new in this version:
Note: The ability to sync purchased tracks to your iPhone will be available in the next update of the Spotify desktop client. This will enable users who have purchased high-quality tracks to transfer and use those higher bitrate tracks rather than stream the song from Spotify.
If you experience any issues with the new version please do let us know and we’ll try and address them as quickly as possible. Enjoy!

Where are the Star buttons?
nevermind, it showed up now.
How do I add tracks from the ipod library to a playlist?
I had some problems with spotify crashing every time it scanned my ipod-library. Turns out I had some broken songs in there. Some kind of better exception-handling there would be nice. Apart from that I must say that I was a bit sad that I this feature didn't let me add music I had on my ipod to playlists. I can understand why this isn't done like that, because of licensing probably, but it would still be a killer feature for me since that would let me plug the holes in the spotify library. There is a lot of music you don't have, especially from really small labels.
Cool, I dont use an iPhone now, but thanks to this post, i've discovered the "-" to make separators :) Has this been possible for a long time? It's nothing like subfolders in playlists, but it's keeping my lists more organized :)

Scrobbling to last.fm! At long last. Thank you. Only Squeezebox support to go now and I'll be a very happy man.
Downloaded update at home this morning, opened App on tube on way to work and my offline playlists won't play, tells me I need to sync?? I am a premium user.
Wow, nice update! Looking forward for the EXACT same features for Android ;)
Sadly no background play in the feature list - I know, Apple's limitation. But on the day I can read Stanza and listen to Spotify at the same time, I'll re-install the iPhone app and subscribe to premium in an instant. (And, I suspect, so would countless others!)
Any news on the Android version? Days, weeks, months away??
Ah, a great update at last. Thumbs up.
sounds good, but does it fix the crashing bug when switching between playlists
This is a great little app which I often use, and this update sounds like it's getting better. One functionality that I would love to see is the capacity to look for a track and add it to a playlist while listening to a playlist, without having to get the song to play first, perhaps with a + button for each track so it can be added to the playlist. Other than that, the app is always working fine for me, even on 3G, and I love the ability to synchronise tracks offline. Well done for a brilliant app, definitely worth the £10 sub a month.
Thanks. Installed the update and now I need to resync all playlists (500+ songs). Not so nice.
This update seems a bit buggy. After update I started the app and it says "Restoring", for a very very long time. Still doing it as I write this. I was able to run it directly after update, but none of my online playlists work. The ones I have offline were playable. But now it just says "Restoring".
I can't seem to turn of shuffle in my playlists on my iPhone... Anyone have the same problem? If I ever selected shuffle in one of my playlists then it's shuffle forever...
I don't get the point of the "Star" feature. How is it different from adding an album/song to a playlist ? I had hoped for something like the iPod's library view, in which you could browse through your favorite artists, then the artist's albums. Why don't you implement something like that ? It doesn't seem too difficult technically, maybe the labels are against it (ala "don't make Hulu too easy to use on a TV") ? The other features are cool though, thanks for the update.
Last.fm scrobbling + remembering location + starred tracks + search = great update, thanks!
Now Android!
I don't quite get the iPod-Spotify integration. Ok, the scan went well, but where do I actually play my iPod tracks in Spotify? A video tutorial of the new features would be nice.
Why are all of my already sync'ed playlists suddenly re-syncing with this update??? This should not be happening. Very unhappy.
What about remote on ear phones support? Single tap = play/pause, double tap=next track. That would be great!
Like that you can now share via Twitter, bit of a shame it has to exit and go to Safari to do it though.
Why does it say 'Restoring..' for a few seconds every time I launch Spotify? What is it restoring? I've had it crash a due times at launch whilst it's doing this.
I'm also a little confused about the star feature - it basically seems to be a quick way of adding a track/album to the starred playlist...but what advantage does this have over just adding the track/album to some other playlist?...other than the fact when you browse to the album when doing a search, you can see that it has been 'starred'. I thought when I added multiple albums, they might go into some nice library view in the starred playlist with different sections for artists/albums etc.. but it just seems to make one long list. Maybe it will all become clearer when the starred feature comes into the desktop app. The only thing I feel the app is missing is a library view a la ipod app, with a consolidated artists/albums view for tracks you have in playlists and some more 'discovery' type views, i.e. if you like this, you might like xyz or the top album/song views like in the desktop app. I feel I have to know exactly what I want to listen to in the iphone app, which isn't really as fun for discovering new music. Get those two things in the next update, plus syncing over 3G, and you have one very happy premium member.
To do: 1. A enqueue button for songs. 2. Make the text for artistname lighter and/or bigger. (it's impossible to see what artist is playing if you're a few feet away (like in my car)) 3. Artist info. 4. Similar artists.
Problem solved! Had to logout and then login again to get it to work after update.
Awesome update!! LOVE IT <3 It miss thou the "related artist" function - maybe for next update
Disaster. If my iPod Touch is on-line, Spotify crashes after 5-10 seconds. Every Time. Seems to attempt some kind of syncing, but just dies.
A nice update - can we please get radio soon too? At least the artist one should be fairly simple to add, with not much GUI work.
I can't see where you can access your iPod tracks in Spotify - anyone else having this problem?!
@afallendevil - I think the feature is that if you play a song in Spotify that you already have on your ipod it will play the local file rather than re-download it when you do a playlist sync. You don't actually get a view of your ipod tracks within Spotify per se.
Btw would be nice to have a function like "Genius" in iTunes in all of the Spotify service ;)
It worked for about 5 minutes after the update On my iPhone 3G, but then it crashed. Now it crashes after about 5 seconds after starting the app.
I think its having a problem re-downloading my offline playlist, because if I turn off wifi on my phone, it doesn't do the sync, and the app doesn't crash.
Just installed the update, I like the new look. But I'm not sure what the iPod syncing is about. Like many others, all of my off-line play lists have got to re-sync which is going to take a while. Not to happy about that. A nice feature for the future would be enabling the software to work with the iPhone headphones when you press the button to pause and play tracks. Would be REALLY useful.
I'd like to see the option menu - the one that opens up when clicking the cover of the cd in "now playing" mode - to open up straight from the search results view. For example, there could be the standard "blue arrow" ui component on the very right of every song. Especially I miss starring songs directly from that view. That would make possible to create ipod-like "on-the-go" playlists without forcing the user to start playing the song first.
All I wish for is a rollback to the 0.3 version, as I am traveling and have a premium account I don't have my PC with me. This update made me resync all playlists and still I'm missing alot of music because of the Sync requirement. So good luck for me to resync on an airport. I want the possibility to rollback get an update on the current version, else im Premium no more, it lost all its meaning.
I'm expering the same syncing problem as many other seem to have. I have premium account (worked fine before the update). I've logged out and in again without any success. Don't know what to do. It started the sync yesterday and it wasn't finished in the morning so I canseled, and now it won't start the sync again!
Some great features added, good work Spotify.
There will be an offline-able version of spotify for maemo coming soon. Ether from spotify.com or based on despotify and using regular mediaplayer with ogg-support on maemo. It all depends on how big problem Spotify inc. wants. Since ogg to * converting is quite simple it could potentially make a mess for spotify-business. too bad
I think I have found a fix for all the crashing. I deleted the app, then re-installed it. This time when I opened it for the first time I went to the "More" tab at the bottom and waited for it to finish scanning my ipod tracks before I did anything else with the app. I think before, it had crashed in the middle of searching my ipod, and it was crashing whenever it tried to pick up where it left off. No problems since. Nice update Spotify!
Why, oh why did Spotify erase all my offline tracks? I think it would be kind to mention that above...
So after it didn't work after updating the app, I too deleted the app (iphone) and re-installed it....and am now into my ninth minute of waiting to log in. Boy, this is frustrating and am wishing I'd ignored the update altogether.
I also got a strange message about having to be premium user even though I have been one for months. I reinstalled the app just in case and now I can't even login. It gets stuck on "logging in...". Nothing is happening. This sucks, I cant use the app at all right now.
I really want the queueing function on the iPhone. What are your thoughts there?
....make that 21 minutes waiting to log in...hey, I know there are many more important things in life than the workings of a paid for/subscription app, and teething problems are not unheard of, but when you've spent months telling people what good value Premium is, it doesn't half hurt to not be able to even get it started. Please guys HELP, and quickly, or I end my subscription.
Questions regarding the new version: 1) You can now choose normalization, out of curiosity, was it ON or OFF in the previous version? 2) How many kb/s is "High quality"? There still doesn't seem to be a way to add a track to a playlist without starting it first? As I wrote sometime before, I think you should solve this by a pop up/slide up - tap a song and get the option to play, star, queue and add to a playlist. Alt. tap to play and tap "plus button next to song" to get the other options.
