Playlists

Creating playlists with Spotify is as easy as drag and drop.

Create a playlist

Simply put, a playlist is a collection of tracks grouped together and saved for easy access. Creating playlists with Spotify is so easy that it’s almost embarrassing to explain. Here goes:

Click on ‘New playlist’ in the left column, give your playlist a name and then drag and drop the tracks you want included. Yes, that’s it. Told you.

Alternatively, you can right-click a track or album and select ‘Save to’ and then ‘New playlist’.

A single playlist can store up to 10,000 tracks, if you have the time or inclination.

Sharing playlists

Sharing playlists

Being able to share whole playlists with your friends is one of the best features of Spotify. And it’s really easy to do.

Social sharing

Share playlists with your Facebook and Spotify friends by dropping music on them. Click on the playlist and drag it over to your friend’s username. It’ll appear in their grateful inbox. You can even add a message if you like.

Or you can click on the Share buttons and post playlists to Facebook, Twitter or Messenger.

Email sharing

Right-click a playlist and select ‘Copy HTTP Link’. Paste the link into an email and it’s ready for your friends to open. If your friends aren’t already Spotify users, they can sign up in a couple of clicks.

Collaborative playlists

Collaborative playlists

Team playlists are also possible with Spotify. You and your friends share a playlist, and each of you can add or remove tracks. Until it’s perfect. Or not.

Just right-click your playlist and select ‘Collaborative playlist’. These playlists will appear with a green icon and text, and they’ll sync automatically between the different users managing that playlist.

Remember: whoever you share the playlist with will be able to edit it.

For playlists you’ve created yourself, you can turn on or off the ‘Collaborative playlists’ option at any time. If it all gets too much. Or you need to be on your own.

Use from anywhere

All your playlists are accessible from wherever you login to Spotify. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re on your mobile phone, or round at your Uncle Dave’s house, you’ll never be separated from your playlist loved ones.
