Spotify Music catalogue updated with 870 releases

To make the weekend a little more interesting we have another update to the Spotify music catalogue. Today we’ve added 877 albums and singles, for a total of more than 13,000 new tracks.

Some of the notable additions include most of the back catalogue from the Beastie Boys including the special 20th anniversary edition of Paul’s Boutique. Also added is a huge selection of Greatful Dead live concerts from the Dick’s Picks collection for all those Deadheads out there.

For a full listing of today’s additions please have a look at the Google Doc, I’ve also added a second sheet to the document which is sorted by label rather than artist. As with every update not all albums listed may be available in your country due to regional restrictions.

Thanks Andres and the Spotify team!

Big thank YOU! Especially for Mastodon! but what with the " - album version" after each tracktitle? Keep ut the GREAT work!

awesome additions, but just heard sabotage from the beastie versions, pg13/clean version? :(

Is it just me who find it funny that Black Sabbath has "Universal Music Division Jazz" as label? Thank you Spotify for making the GoogleDoc searchable by label!

The newly-added Front Line Assembly album rarities album "Monument" has also suffixed each song with "Album version" - ironic since Monument collects non-album tracks together ;)

Thank you for ability to list by label in Google Docs!

still no mastodon in sweden? what's up with that?

Yay, Straight outta lynwood. Sweet stuff, gotta love Weird Al =)

Thanks for the update! This weekend will pass really fast listing to all the new releases. Is there anyway of knowing the total amount of songs/albums existing on Spotify? Viktor @ http://www.bespotify.com

Sweet that you added the extra spreadsheet, sorted by labels!

I got a little excited seeing a lot of Black Sabbath back catalogue in the list, then was somewhat disappointed to notice they're not available in Finland. Oh well, at least there's some Beastie Boys to listen to...

Too bad the new Doves single is not available in Sweden. I am also very keen on new albums with Anna Järvinen, Bob Hund, Maia Hirasawa and Pet Shop Boys. Will they pop up soon?

Var finns Sofia Karlssons senaste? Antony & the Johnsons?

I am a fan of King Crimson. Here are a few albums. ¿Can you include the originals ones? Thanks

Happy to see that more of Finnish music is beeing added to service. Many thanks for the update!

Impressive with both Beastie Boys and The Smiths

Yay! Very nice with more Beastie Boys!!

Is it my imagination or did the total number of tracks accessible in Sweden actually go down with this update? Everytime there is an update I run the query "year:0-2100" to see the total and I'm sure that the update earlier in the week meant that in Sweden we broke the 2,7 million tracks barrier. After this update the total number of tracks in Sweden is now around 2,68 million.

All in all a pretty disappointing update if you live in Sweden. Of the high profile artists in the update there is only Beastie Boys and Grateful Dead that have had any new material added (perhaps that's why Andres chose them in his post?). In Sweden there is no new material from: Black Sabbath Bob Dylan Jackson Browne Stevie Nicks or The Smiths Damn the record labels and their stupid and idiotic restrictions!!!!

In the UK total number of available tracks appears to be 2582501.

digithed - It's your imagination. :) Total tracks in Sweden is up about from about 2,638k earlier this week.

OK, Sorry Andres. However I still think it was a disappointing update for Sweden. Depressing reading over at TechCrunch... http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/03/27/the-sorry-state-of-music-startups/ I hope Spotify manages to survive.

digithed - No worries. The Smiths and Black Sabbath are just starting the process of going onto digital services so hopefully we'll see a wider release at some point. And I wouldn't worry to about us, we'll manage. :)

woohoo! now I'm a happy camper again :)

Sound of bassline 2 please?????

I just find spotify to be awesome (:

Thank you very much :) However, add more greek music too :)

I want more soundtracks from movies and stuff. Where is the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack? It's such a good movie, and so good music in the movie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Requiem_for_a_Dream_(soundtrack)

Is it possible to request music? I would really love to have Turisas in my playlist :)

Super music channel.Just about everything is here but there are a few gaps.I would like to suggest the operetta Toi C'est Moi by Moishe Simon, not sure of name spelling but he also wrote the Peanut Vendor.Ciboulette, operetta by Carpentier, you seem to have just one song by Susan Graham at Carnegie Hall.Esther Lamandier singing sephardic and other songs accompanying herself with various instruments Bye Len Walker

WHERE DID THE JUSTICE ALBUM "A CROSS THE UNIVERSE" GO?!

This is wicked I love spotify !! Please please get hed kandi albums uploaded!

This is great but it's hard to check them out right now. Spotify is really dragging. *Really*. Can't even get a single track to play. And access to this site is slow too. More growing pains?

rixstep: Check your firewall settings. Spotify has been working great for the last couple of weeks. Last time I had some trouble was some time last year.

Come on, please add regional availability! Going through these lists just to find that the records you’re looking for are not available in your country is just a complete waste of time. No secrets, just give us the facts! What's the problem!?

When I try to listen to "Yes", the new pet shop boys album, it says it's not available in my country, why isn't it available in every country. And also I really miss, Pink floyd, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, is it because of some copyright-laws you don't have them? Sorry IF my english is bad.

Oh, great to see the early Black Sabbath albums up there now! Going back a couple of updates, I'd love to see some more Fred Frith material on the 'fy... the Tzadik albums are great, but it'd be nice to hear the earlier stuff as well as Henry Cow.

audun93: Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Metallica and Tool have opted out. It's in the Spotify FAQ (except Tool).

Okay, that sucks, some of my favorite bands..

Really , you added a lot great albums like beastie boys, black sabbath and so much more but we can't listen to the songs in Sweden.

Speaking of regional restrictions, how come my English friends can register for the Free service without an invitation but my Swedish friends can't?

zedentist: That's because the free service (without an invite) doesn't exist in Sweden yet.

Probably the wrong place to stick this but....what has happened to the Yeasayer stuff? I'd just done a nice playlist and all the ir stuff other that one single has gone!

This service is really, really good. I am absolutely delighted. I've been using it only few minutes but it was enough to see that Spotify is incredibly good. Plus if I will be able to hear Thomas Köner and few other similar artists definitely Spotify will become my new music home

Nice to hear some new music but if I can complain about something it must be the updated tags. What's up with "Album version", "Radio mix", "Original version" and so on? As an Last.fm user this is very annoying!

susanne.eriksson - We were asked by the labels to include these. Do they mess up the scrobbling or does Last.fm auto correct them?

Just noticed some "Spotify Live Session" tracks from UK synthpopper La Roux - are these the first tracks recorded exclusively for Spotify? http://open.spotify.com/user/afront/playlist/3SSAqPaSjZBassFi3AbEnl

afront - Yes they are.
